Week 10 Results

BOURNEMOUTH 6 HULL 1

Bournemouth double their goals tally for the season with this impressive victory. Obviously no 3 pointers for anybody here, but a big 20 did have the outcome.

STOKE 2 SUNDERLAND 0
Stoke get their first win of the season, as Sunderland are still waiting for theirs. Their were 3 who had this spot-on, with a further 13 getting the outcome.

DERBY 1 LEEDS 0
Three different managers have overseen Derby's three wins this season, as McClaren gets off to a winning start. Also 3 members got this spot-on, and 7 had the outcome.

NORWICH 3 ROTHERHAM 1
Norwich go top with this win, and Rotherham have now only had one win in their last seventeen league games. All 27 members predicted a win for Norwich, with 3 having it spot-on.

QPR 1 READING 1
QPR have failed to win at home since the first day of the season, after this draw. A decent 8 got this spot-on, and another 2 had the outcome.

BRISTOL ROVERS 2 GILLINGHAM 1
Bristol Rovers get a 90th minute winner, as they came from behind to beat Gillingham. That was good news for the massive 9 who had this spot-on, and for the 7 who got the outcome.

SOUTHEND 1 CHESTERFIELD 0
Southend have won five of their last six home games, after this narrow victory. There were 5 who got 3 points for predicting this, and 5 also had the outcome.

CHELTENHAM 2 CRAWLEY 1
Cheltenham end a six-match winless league run with this victory. Surprisingly nobody had this spot-on, and only 3 got the outcome.

LEYTON ORIENT 1 LUTON 2
It is now six defeats in seven home league games for Orient, after this latest loss. A huge 9 got this spot-on, with a further 9 having the outcome.

PLYMOUTH 2 PORTSMOUTH 2
Plymouth get a 89th minute equaliser, as they take their unbeaten run to eleven. There were 3 who had this spot-on, and 5 more got the outcome. The weeks most predicted score was on this game, with 13 going for Plymouth to win 2-1.

Wow! What an impressive week that was. Never before, in my two seasons and a bit of administrating the Happy League, have we gone through the 200 total points barrier for any one week. Well, we did this week. In fact the final total was 224, made up of 43 three pointers and 95 one point outcomes. So a real week to cash in, and the one who cashed in most was mfb_cufc. He had the wins for Derby, Norwich, Southend and Luton spot-on, and with three other outcomes, he is the weeks top scorer, for the second week running, with a good 15 points. Just missing out on this honour was Colukev, who got 3 points for the QPR draw, and the wins for Bristol Rovers and Luton, on his way to an brilliant 14 points. Three spot-ons, the QPR draw, and the wins for Stoke and Norwich, for basher2010 as well, that got him a impressive 12 points. A very well done also for the ten who got two 3 pointers each. The best of which was noah4x4, Sector4 and Blue4U2, who all had five other outcomes, and a decent 11 points. After noah4x4 used a strategic 1-0 all games, I was wondering how he would have done using that strategy for the season so far. Well he would have been a point better off, with 42 points.
Looking at the results so far, of the 72 games played, the top three are:-
1-1 with 11, and if you had predicted every game to finish this way, you would have had 41 points.
1-2 with 10, predicting this for every game, would give you 43 points.
2-1 with 8, predicting this for every game, gives you 46 points.
So the best of those would still have you bottom half in the Premier, and just scrape into the play-offs in Division One. This confirms what previous seasons have shown, that you can get a short term gain using this strategy, but in the long run you will win nothing. At the other end of the scale, no game has yet to finish 0-2, and backing every game to finish this way would give you just 23 points.

In the Premier, another solid week from burnsieespana maintains his 6 point lead, but it is now from mfb_cufc, whose top scoring week moved him up another two places. Further down this league, after his promotion last season, jonestones is gradually finding his feet, and he also moves up another two. Moving two in the opposite direction is wessex_exile, and he finds himself in the relegation zone, for the first time this season.

In Division One, there is a new leader, with basher2010 showing once again that no experience is necessary, when it comes to doing well in the Happy League. His first season has been one of gradual improvement, with this weeks great effort taking him to the top, by means of the most 3 pointers rule. Last week I pointed out the form person of this league was Colukev. Well after this weeks top performance, he has enhanced that further, by moving up another six places, into fourth. Considering he was bottom after Week 5, this is an impressive recovery. Further down, as mentioned above, noah4x4 finally found a way of breaking his 3 pointer hoodoo, and he moves up two. Going two the other way is mrhappy, who is looking a shadow of the person who won the Premier two seasons ago.

THE TABLES (72 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
