Norwich 1 - 7 U's

Evidently less than Norwich spent on their First XI. Freak results are no guide to the future (Norwich got promoted).

The U's U18 defeat to Daggers was a ten goal thriller amongst juniors, many under age and/or very inexperienced. The spend on the Academy is irrelevant to anything except the First XI. Our U23's, largely all Academy are doing exceptionally well. The club must soon benefit; and it already has; Wright; Gilbey (sold); Bonne; Lapslie; James etc. I watch the U23's regularly, and the pipeline looks sound.

Must be deemed quite a giantkilling act, and raise a few eyebrows, considering the clubs academy status . No over aged players can be selected, so perhaps the majority who played might have come from the lower age bracket from those available . Let's hope the lesson learnt is that plenty of work and improvement is still required to make the step up to full time pro contracts .
Let's not forget the U23 results have stood up well this season considering several have had first team run outs .
The result disappointing and a realility check though, not just the players but also future management !

Poll: No half measure either 1 or 2 ?
