Week 22 Results

ACCRINGTON 2 LUTON 1

Accrington reached the FA Cup 4th round for only the second time since they were reformed in 1968. Just the 2 (desthegooner and OhOriOri) got this spot-on, and nobody had the outcome. There were 18 who predicted a win for Luton, with 10 going for 2-1.

BOLTON 0 CRYSTAL PALACE 0
Allardyce is still seeking his first win as Palace boss, after this bore draw. Nobody had this spot-on, but 6 did get the outcome.

BRIGHTON 2 MK DONS 0
Straight forward win for Brighton, despite making 11 changes to the team from the previous game. The weeks biggest banker, with everybody going for a Brighton victory, and a big 9 getting it spot-on.

HULL 2 SWANSEA 0
Hull get their first clean sheet in 23 games, as they progress to the fourth round. Well done to wessex_exile for being the only one to have this spot-on, but 14 did have the outcome.

IPSWICH 2 LINCOLN 2
Ipswich twice came from behind to salvage a replay. Well done to jonestones for being the only one to get 3 points for this, and there were only 2 who had the outcome.

NORWICH 2 SOUTHAMPTON 2
Norwich are another East Anglian team who came from behind twice to get a replay. There were 3 who had this spot-on, and 4 more got the outcome. A 92nd minute equalizer robbed the 8 who had Southampton to win 2-1, with 16 predicting a Southampton victory overall.

WEST BROM 1 DERBY 2
Derby came from behind to claim a shock win. No points for anybody from this game. West Brom was another of the weeks bankers, with 22 predicting them to win, and 11 going for a 2-1.

SOUTHEND 2 SHEFFIELD UNITED 4
Sheff Utd powered to a sixth win in a row, as they beat a Southend team unbeaten in their previous 13 games. Not surprisingly nobody got this spot-on (our first 2-4 of the season), but 11 did have the outcome.

COLCHESTER 4 CARLISLE 1
Guthrie gets the first League hat-trick by a U's player since Cureton's against Southend in 2007, as the Super U's storm into the play-off spots. Again nobody had this spot-on, but a big 18 got the outcome, with 11 going for 2-1.

HARTLEPOOL 0 GRIMSBY1
Another in form League 2 team Grimsby, make it 10 points out of 12, with this win. There were 3 who got this spot-on, and another 10 had the outcome.

The 3rd round of the FA Cup has always produced shock results, and it will so even more now, with most teams putting out under strength teams, and some even making 11 changes from the previous game. This didn't stop Brighton from obtaining a routine victory, and giving all members at least one point. But the other six Cup games on this weeks fixtures, didn't prove to be quite so easy, with only Hull living up to expectations. The three league games produced plenty of other outcomes, but Brighton's win aside, this was overall a tough week. There were five members who managed to get two spot-on, the best of which was mrhappy, who got 3 points for the Brighton win and the Norwich draw, and with four other outcomes, he this weeks top scorer with an excellent 10 points. Best of the others with two spot-on was sevebalo, who got 3 points for the Brighton and Grimsby wins, on his way to a very good 8 points.

In the Premier, with the top two both getting 6 points, there is no change, as burnsieespana maintains the lead he has held for eight weeks now. Not such a good week for Tropical_Us saw him drop two places, but more importantly he is now nearer to relegation than a Charity Shield spot. Such is the tightness of this league that one good/bad week can change your aspirations. This is borne out by jonestones, who two weeks ago looked like he had a big fight on to avoid being relegated. But after another decent week, to follow on from his top scoring effort last week, he now finds himself out of the bottom three, for the first time since Week 12.

In Division One, no 3 pointers for basher2010, for the third week running, but he still holds a healthy 7 point lead, as Colukev has also failed to get any in the same period. As these two continue to falter, mrhappy continues to show the form that won him the Premier only two seasons ago. His top scoring effort this week takes to within a point of the automatic spots. He swaps places with noah4x4, who now has less 3 pointers than anybody in both leagues, but has 8 more other outcomes than anybody else. This would be an incredible record to get automatic promotion with, but it still remains very much on. The biggest mover was concordman, up two places, and within sight of the play-offs. The unfortunate news from this league is that I have had to expel johnnyboy53, after he missed his fourth week in a row. I have had no message from him to indicate he didn't want to participate any more, so I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with him. All I can say is we are sorry to lose you, and you are most welcome to join us again next season.

THE TABLES (160 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Can I start sending my predictions a week after the games were played?! It might help me get a few more points!

Whoops - forgot I'd already posted MFB! Apologies for that, please ignore my erroneous second predictions...

That's not the problem wessex. You have predicted for Week 23 again, instead of Week 24.
