Happy League 2016/17 Week 26 (of 38) - Deadline 15.00 Saturday 00:14 - Jan 29 with 1727 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 25 Results

LIVERPOOL 1 WOLVES 2

Wolves take a 53 second lead, and don't look back. Liverpool's last three FA Cup defeats at Anfield have all been to second-tier sides. No points here for anybody, with 21 predicting a Liverpool win, and 8 going for a 2-0.

CHELSEA 4 BRENTFORD 0
Chelsea make nine changes to their starting XI, but still stroll to a comfortable win. All 24 members predicted a Chelsea victory, with 3 getting it spot-on.

LINCOLN 3 BRIGHTON 1
Lincoln reach the 5th round for the first time in 115 years, as they came from behind to beat Brighton. Nobody got this spot-on, and only jonestones had the outcome. There were 20 who predicted a win for Brighton.

MIDDLESBROUGH 1 ACCRINGTON 0
Accrington are yet to progress beyond the 4th round of the FA Cup, after this narrow defeat. Well done to Pinault_Noir for being the only one to get this spot-on, but there were 22 who had the outcome.

OXFORD UNITED 3 NEWCASTLE 0
The Newcastle gamble of making nine changes to their starting XI backfires big time. Though a missed penalty at 1-0 didn't help. No 3 pointers for anybody, and just 2 (Colukev and Pinault_Noir) got the outcome. The other 22 predicted a Newcastle victory.

TOTTENHAM 4 WYCOMBE 3
Spurs pull off an unlikely victory, after being a goal down with a minute to go. All 24 predicted a win for Tottenham, but not surprisingly nobody got it spot-on.

QPR 1 BURTON 2
Nigel Clough wins what is probably his last game in charge of Burton, before taking over as boss of Nottingham Forest. Well done again Pinault_Noir for being the only one to get this spot-on, and only desthegooner had the outcome. There were 20 who predicted a QPR win.

FLEETWOOD 1 SOUTHEND 1
Fleetwood are now unbeaten for a club-record twelve league games, after a 90th minute equalizer. That late goal was good news for the 4 who had this spot-on, and the 2 who got the outcome.

MANSFIELD 2 LEYTON ORIENT 0
Mansfield made it six league games unbeaten, with this convincing win. There were 5 who got this spot-on, and a further 9 had the outcome.

YEOVIL 0 DONCASTER 3
Doncaster get their fifth straight win, after this comfortable victory. Nobody had this spot-on, but a big 19 did get the outcome.

There were six FA Cup games on this weeks fixtures, with six bankers being predicted from these games. But with these "good things" making as many as nine changes to their starting line-ups, they don't turn out to be bankers, as the results show. It didn't make any difference to Chelsea, but trying to get a 3 pointer from the other five games was a lottery. It was left to the league games at Fleetwood and Mansfield to make for the shortfall of 3 pointers from the Cup. Despite the dearth of 3 pointers Pinault_Noir still had a brilliant week, as the notes above show, he got 3 points for the Middlesbrough and Burton wins, as well as having the Fleetwood draw spot-on, and three other outcomes, to give him a weeks top score of 12 points. Two other performances of merit were from Sector4 who got 3 points for the Mansfield win and the Fleetwood draw, on his way to an excellent 10 points, and Tropical_Us who had the wins for Chelsea and Mansfield spot-on, as he got a very good 9 points.

In the Premier, although he was not looking forward to predicting this weeks fixtures, burnsieespana still got a respectable five other outcomes, and remains top for the eleventh week running. Though mfb_cufc continues to remain in his slipstream, and ready to pounce in the home straight. It is now an ominous 14 points back to the third Gate16, who regains the final Charity Shield spot, after taking advantage of an unfortunate no show from wessex_exile. Further down the league, after his decent week the Tropical_Us glass is now half-full again. Seven other outcomes for jonestones see him inch a bit further to safety. The excellent week for Sector4 takes him out of the bottom three, and he is replaced by RSCOSWORTH who falls into the relegation zone for the first time this season. There was a welcome 3 pointer for BFG, but he still has a lot of work on to avoid the drop.

In Division One, it is now sixteen weeks running that basher has topped this league, and after another solid week, he doesn't look like relinquishing that lead anytime soon. The big scrap for the other automatic spot continues, as Colukev reclaims the place again, helped by his brave prediction of going for a Oxford win. A brave prediction of being the only one to predict an Accrington victory, didn't work for mrhappy, as he drops off the pace, with the lowest score in this league. After his fantastic week Pinault_Noir moves up an incredible five places, and into the final play-off spot. At the time basher2010 took over at the top it was only on the more 3 pointer rule from durham_exile. Since then the latter has dropped nine places, not helped by having no 3 pointers for the last six weeks. But he is still only 7 points from the play-offs, and as this week has shown, that can be reached with one good score.

THE TABLES (182 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

All 1-0's please

This is what Mr Happy does many weeks.

But I'm raked over the coals for 1 week of all 1-1's.. (my First time this season)

.....

I have a simple suggestion:
NO BLANKET PICKS EVER AGAIN, MFB.

If it's all 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, whatever .. they Don't Count..

Problem. Solved. ... You're welcome.

Can I remind you, the reaction was to your request for a blanket pick for the remainder of the season, so please stop trying to make it something it wasn't.

As it happens, I agree that if a participant has time to log on and make a post, they have time to make an actual proper set of predictions.

Do we really need to go through this again?

The issue isn't one week of blind picks...it was your request for blind picks until end of season.

Why should everyone else be penalised should they ever need to do a week of blind predictions.

A blanket ban is not the answer....the answer is DON'T TAKE THE PI55 OR THROW TOYS OUT OF THE PRAM

Kev, unfortunately we are all guilty of giving this individual the oxygen of publicity which he craves.
