Week 28 Results

BIRMINGHAM 1 QPR 4

Birmingham lost for the ninth time in 14 games since Zola took charge, after this thrashing. Nobody got this spot-on, and only 2 had the outcome. There were 15 who predicted a win for Birmingham.

WIGAN 0 PRESTON 0
Wigan fail to score for the fifteenth time in the League this season, and with Preston missing a penalty, we got our fourteenth bore draw of the season. Well done to jonestones for being the only one to have this spot-on, and there 7 who got the outcome.

BRADFORD CITY 2 BOLTON 2
Bolton came from two goals down to get a draw. This draw takes Bradford's unbeaten home run in the League to 24 games. For this weeks quiz, who was the last team to win at Bradford City in a League game? Answer at the bottom of the page. Well done desthegooner for being the only one to get 3 points for this, and again 7 had the outcome.

COVENTRY 2 GILLINGHAM 1
Coventry secured their first win in 16 League games, with two goals in the first 21 minutes. There were 3 who had this spot-on, and just the 2 got the outcome.

SHEFFIELD UNITED 1 SCUNTHORPE 1
Billy Sharp scores against his former club to rescue a point for Sheff Utd, as 10-man Scunthorpe score with their only shot on target. Amazingly for a game between the teams first and second in League 1, only Colukev got this spot-on, and only 2 had the outcome. There were 17 who predicted a Sheff Utd victory.

SOUTHEND 2 NORTHAMPTON 2
Cox scores for the sixth home game in succession for Southend, as Northampton twice fought back to earn a draw. Well done to OhOriOri for being the only one to have this spot-on, and just 2 got the outcome. There were 19 who predicted a win for Southend, with 9 going for a 2-0, in what was the weeks most predicted score.

ACCRINGTON 2 COLCHESTER 1
10-man Accrington hold on to complete the double over injury-hit Colchester. There were 2 (desthegooner and Colukev) who got this spot-on, and 2 also had the outcome. There were 12 who predicted a victory for Colchester.

BARNET 1 PORTSMOUTH 1
Portsmouth get an 89th minute equaliser, with their only shot on target. A decent 5 had this spot-on, and nobody got the outcome. There were 15 who predicted a win for Portsmouth.

DONCASTER 1 LUTON 1
It is now four games without a win for leaders Doncaster, as they came from behind to earn a point. There were 2 (thrillseeker and jonestones) who got this spot-on, and just 1 had the outcome. There were 14 who predicted a victory for Doncaster.

WYCOMBE 1 CARLISLE 2
Carlisle came from behind to beat a Wycombe team who have lost their last three League games. Hopefully that poor run will continue in their next game. There were 3 who had this spot-on, and only 2 got the outcome.

With six of the ten games ending in draws, this turned out to be the worst ten game week of the season so far. With three of the draws being the ever popular 1-1, I would have expected a better return, but only the Barnet game delivered on that score. Overall we had a reasonable 19 three pointers, but the week was let down by only having 27 other outcomes, with over half of them coming from the draws at Wigan and Bradford City. So it was a remarkable performance from this weeks guest picker Colukev, who despite getting no points from the weeks first four games, still managed to get truly magnificent 14 points from the other six. He had four spot-on, the Barnet draw and Carlisle win, to go with the two mentioned above, and two other outcomes, on his way to being the weeks top scorer. It was also a week of merit for jonestones, who had the two 3 pointers mentioned above, and three other outcomes, to give him an excellent 9 points.

In the Premier, just 3 points for getting the Carlisle win spot-on for burnsieespana this week, but it was enough for him to maintain his lead. As he never backs a game to end in a draw, mfb_cufc would be pleased to have got 5 points, and close the gap to a single point. Only a few weeks ago Tropical_Us was sinking towards the relegation zone, but his recovery continued this week with two more 3 pointers, and he is up another three places, and into the final Charity Shield spot. After Week 20 jonestones was bottom of the league. But since then he has shown the sort of form that got him promoted last season, and he also moves up three places this week, and is now just a point off a Charity Shield spot. Another unfortunate no show from wessex_exile, but not too much harm done. At the bottom another two 3 pointers for thrillseeker, has given him every chance of escaping now.

In Division One, first of all an apology to basher2010 for suggesting the title was a foregone conclusion for him last week. He is still top, but only on the more 3 pointer rule, as the magnificent week from Colukev moved him level on points. This means the ding dong battle for the other automatic spot, that has been going on for weeks, has suddenly left mrhappy 10 points adrift in third. An incredible blank for the second week running, hasn't helped the cause for noah4x4. A no show from gsy163 drops him out of the play-off positions. He is replaced by desthegooner, whose two 3 pointers took him up three places. The run without a 3 pointer for durham_exile, has now stretched to nine weeks, and 66 games.

THE TABLES (204 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
