Happy League 2022/23 Week 18 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 26th November 15.000 21:08 - Nov 19 with 2216 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 17 results

BARNSLEY 3 MILTON KEYNES DONS 1

Michael Duff's Barnsley moved into the play-off places after this victory, and left the Dons six points from safety. Well done to basher2010 for being the only one to get this spot-on, and a further 23 had the outcome.

BURTON ALBION 2 PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 2
Adrian Mariappa got a 97th minute equaliser, with his first Burton goal, to deny League One leaders Plymouth maximum points. Nobody had this spot-on, and only Lewis_1 got the outcome. 25 predicted a win for Plymouth with 12 going for a 2-0 in what the weeks most predicted score.

CAMBRIDGE UNITED 0 ACCRINGTON STANLEY 1
Accrington earned a first win in eight League One games with this success. Cambridge have now gone more than 10 hours in League One since they last scored at home. Well done to ghughes11 for being the only one to get this spot-on, and nobody had the outcome. 21 thought Cambrdge might actually score, and predicted them to win.

BRADFORD CITY 1 NORTHAMPTON TOWN 3
Northampton underlined their promotion credentials with an emphatic win at their fellow challengers, despite being without League Two's leading scorer Sam Hoskins. Another game with no spot-on, but 10 did have the outcome.

HARROGATE TOWN 3 MANSFIELD TOWN 0
The Harrogate hoodoo over Mansfield continued as a Luke Armstrong brace and an Alex Pattison goal secured a comprehensive win. The victory means Mansfield have now failed to beat them in all six meetings between the two clubs - a sequence encompassing five defeats and just one draw. Perhaps the 6 who got the outcome knew about this stat, though not surprisingly a 3 pointer eluded them. 20 predicted a win for Mansfield.

SALFORD CITY 1 CARLISLE UNITED 4
Kristian Dennis scored twice, taking his tally for the season to 12, in a compehensive win for Carlisle, and take Salford's winless run to six. A final game this week with no 3 pointer, and only Daniel and gerry_us got the outcome. 20 predicted that Salford's winless run would end today.

We are at the stage of the season when the leagues have settled down, and predicting results should be easier, but after another lot of surprising ones this week, it is getting harder. Only two 3 pointers, and it was left to the Barnsley outcomes to almost give everybody at least one point. Things would have looked a whole lot better if Burton hadn't got that late equaliser, with 8 going for a 2-1 Plymouth win. The honour of being the weeks top scorer goes to ghughes11, who also had the Barnsley and Harrogate outcomes, to go with his good Accrington 1-0 pick, to give him a solid 5 points. Was this an inspirational prediction, or are Cambridge on his list of teams he always backs to lose, like Ipswich and Wycombe? Either way, well done to him for being the only one to predict a win for Accrington. A special mention for Lewis_1 in being the only one to get four outcomes, in such a difficult week.

A look at how the 122 games so far this season have finished.
As the home wins continue to dry up, we have now had 48 (39.34%). That is now a bit below average, as the draws with 34 (27.87%) are a bit above average. That leaves the away wins in line with the past on 40 (32.79%).
No change this week on the seasons top result, with the 1-1 draw still leading the way on 17. That is 3 more than the 1-0, and 7 more than the 0-0 in third. The best result for away win is the 0-1 with 9.

In the Premier The outcomes for Barnsley and Northampton were enough to keep mfb_cufc at the top for the 11th week running. Those same outcomes for noah4x4 moved him back into second. Just the Barnsley outcome for RSCOSWORTH, and he is third. The top scoring performance for ghughes11, moved him up a couple of places, and back into the final Super Cup spot. Just the Barnsley outcome also for thrillseeker and blueeagle in fifth and sixth. The outcomes for Barnsley, Northampton and Harrogate moved unitedwhites up a place to seventh. Last week wessex_exile avoided being in the bottom three on the first to post rule. The roles are reversed this week, and it is concordman who avoids being in the relegation zone.

In Division One The magic spell for GOSBTS not surprisingly came to an end this week, but he would still be pleased to have got the outcomes for Barnsley and Harrogate, to keep him top for the third week running. Just the Harrogate outcome for Pinault_Noir, but he remains in the other automatic spot. The outcomes also for Barnsley and Harrogate move MrHappy2 a point closer in third. The outcomes for Barnsley and Northampton keep oxfcolu in fourth. Just the Barnsley outcome for bwildered, but he remains fifth. Up three places with his impressive four outcomes is Lewis_1, that moves him into the final play-off place, for his highest position since the opening week of the season. With mostly 1 and 2's in the rest of the league, the only other changes have basher2010 and BFG both moving up a place.

Midweek League Cup Just a reminder. The next round of games are from the World Cup, and start with the England v Iran game on Monday 21st November 13.00.

Happy Cup All details of the draw and fixtures for the 2nd Round, taking place next weekend, are now on the separate Happy Cup thread.

U'sual Champions League The latest look on how qualification is going, suddenly has Division One dominating things, with sevebalo in ninth currently in the eleventh, and final qualification place with his 69 points. That means only the top two, and current holder RSCOSWORTH represent the Premier.

THE TABLES (122 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
