Happy League 2022/23 Week 20 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 10th December 12.00 00:12 - Dec 4 with 1859 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 19 results

ACCRINGTON STANLEY 1 OXFORD UNITED 1

Oxford extended their unbeaten League One run to seven games but had to settle draw. as they score with their only shot on target. A super 6 got this spot-on, and nobody had the outcome.

CRAWLEY TOWN 2 SWINDON TOWN 0
New Crawley boss Matthew Etherington made a winning start with a hard-fought victory, as Swindon fail to have a shot on target. Well done to BFG for being the only one to have this spot-on, and another 3 got the outcome.

HARTLEPOOL UNITED 0 STOCKPORT COUNTY 5
Dave Challinor returned to haunt his former club, as his Stockport side dish out a thrashing. Not surprising nobody got this spot-on, but 13 did have the outcome.

MANSFIELD TOWN 2 COLCHESTER UNITED 1
Lucas Akins' 100th senior goal in 92nd minute earned Mansfield victory, after he had wrestled the U's Smith to the ground, before heading in unmarked. A sublime 5 had this spot-on, and 5 also got the outcome.

Referee Ross Joyce (aka Mr Magoo)

NORTHAMPTON TOWN 0 TRANMERE ROVERS 0
Northampton missed the chance to keep pace with their promotion rivals in League Two after this bore draw. Nobody got this spot-on, and only Lewis_1 had the outcome. 22 predicted a win for Northampton with 11 going for a 2-0 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

ROCHDALE 1 HARROGATE TOWN 4
Harrogate Town gave themselves a boost in the fight for English Football League survival with a comprehensive victory at their fellow strugglers, as thery score with their only four shots on target. Another game with no 3 pointer, though 4 did get the outcome.

Last weeks six out of six home wins proved to be a blip, as we have another disappointing one again this week. With 5-0 and 4-1 away wins, the "surprise" win for Crawley, and a unbacked bore draw, it made finding 3 pointers difficult. Thanks mainly to the Accrington 1-1 and the Mansfield 2-1, there were 12 in total. Two members did well to have those two games spot-on, they were wessex_exile and Sector4. It was the former, who also had one outcome, that gets the honour of being the weeks top scorer, with a decent 7 points.
Week 19 means we are now at the halfway stage of the season, and looking at how the 134 games have finished, shows there have been 56 (41.79%) home wins, 42 (31.34%) away wins, and 36 (26.87%) draws. Figures that are very much in line with previous seasons.
The top result so far is the 1-1 with 18. Followed by the 1-0 with 14, and then it is the 0-0 and a surprise 3-1 with 11. The top 6 results are completed by the 2-1 and the 0-1 both on 9.

Midweek League Cup The final round of fixtures to see who qualifies for the knockout stage take place on the 29th December. The full update for Week 9, and details of those fixtures, will be about two weeks before that date.

Happy Cup Details of the draw and fixtures for the quarter-finals will be on a separate thread at the end of this week.

U'sual Champions League With only four weeks to go before we know who this seasons qualifiers are, the member in that important eleventh qualifying place is currently blueeagle with his 76 points. With only two members within 6 points of that total, things are looking good for the current qualifiers. But with two 10 game weeks in the next three, things can still change very quickly.

In the Premier Only two outcomes for mfb_cufc, but he takes his run at the top to 13 weeks. Having the Mansfield 2-1 spot-on enabled RSCOSWORTH to move 2 points nearer to him. Two outcomes also for noah4x4 and ghughes11, and they remain in the other Super Cup places. In fact there were no changes to the top 7 in another low scoring week. All the activity in this division came at the bottom, with the weeks best scores coming from this area. The top scoring performance from wessex_exile moved him up three places, and out of the relegation zone for the first time since Week 11. The decent week for Sector4, that continued his good recent form, has finally got him out of the bottom three for the first time this season. That means despite a solid 5 points, that included having the Mansfield 2-1 spot-on, concodman drops into the relegation zone again, and firing a blank has dropped Daniel there for the first time this season.

In Division One Despite firing a blank GOSBTS remains top for the fifth week running. Going 2-1 all games moved MrHappy2 up a place, and into the other automatic spot again. A blank week also for Pinault_Noir, means he drops out of the top two, after an eight week spell there. Having the Accrington 1-1 spot-on keeps oxfcolu in fourth, and helped bwildered to move up a couple of places, and back into the play-offs, after a week away. Two outcomes for burnsieespana were enough to keep him in the final play-off spot. While two outcomes were not enough for Lewis_1 to remain in the top six. On this low scoring week there was little change to the rest of the league.

THE TABLES (134 out of 280 played)

Early kick-off results

BLACKBURN ROVERS 1 PRESTON NORTH END 4

Ched Evans grabbed a second-half double as Preston thrashed their fellow promotion hopefuls to move to within two points of their Lancashire rivals. No points for anybody from this game, as 22 predicted a win for Blackburn, and the other 2 a draw.

ROTHERHAM UNITED 1 BRISTOL CITY 3
Bristol City ended a run of five Championship matches without a win with this victory. Nobody had this spot-on, but 5 did get the outcome.

IPSWICH TOWN 2 PETERBOROUGH UNITED 1
A brace from Conor Chaplin helped Ipswich to record a victory over their promotion rivals. It was the fourth defeat on the trot for Peterborough, whose goal came from ex-U's Frankie Kent. A massive 10 had this spot-on, in what was the weeks most predicted score, and a further 9 got the outcome.
