Happy League 2023/24 Week 8 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 23rd September 15.00 01:16 - Sep 17 with 1779 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 7 results

FULHAM 1 LUTON TOWN 0

A goal from Carlos Vinicius was enough to ensure that Luton became the first side to lose their opening four games of their first Premier League season since Swindon in 1993-94. Only 2 got this spot-on, and a further 24 had the outcome.

NEWCASTLE UNITED 1 BRENTFORD 0
Callum Wilson scored from the penalty spot, as Newcastle's victory ended a run of three consecutive defeats, to ease the scrutiny on boss Eddie Howe. Incredibly nobody had this spot-on, but 23 did get the outcome with 13 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

NORWICH CITY 1 STOKE CITY 0
Jack Stacey's first goal in three years gave Norwich the win that continued their impressive start to the season. 3 got this spot-on, and another 19 had the outcome.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 0 IPSWICH TOWN 1
A Conor Chaplin goal gave Ipswich a win that kept their 100% away record going, as Wednesday fail to have a shot on target. A super 6 had this spot-on, and a further 8 got the outcome.

CARDIFF CITY 2 SWANSEA CITY 0
Cardiff halted Swansea's run of four successive South Wales derby wins, as Ollie Tanner came on to change the course of the match with an inspired substitute appearance. Well done to blueeagle for being the only one to get this spot-on, and another 13 had the outcome.

DERBY COUNTY 1 PORTSMOUTH 1
Colby Bishop gets a 95th minute equaliser for Portsmouth, as they take their unbeaten run in the EFL to 18 games. 4 had this spot-on, and one more got the outcome.

PETERBOROUGH UNITED 1 LEYTON ORIENT 1
Just a draw for Peterborough, but the point was enough to see them end a three-match losing run in the league. Well done to Colukev for being the only one to get this spot-on, and only Jorash63 and TheRams had the outcome. 22 predicted a win for Peterborough.

BRADFORD CITY 1 HARROGATE TOWN 1
Jamie Walker's 95th minute equaliser rescued a point for Bradford, as Harrogate had earlier scored with their only shot on target. 2 had this spot-on, and one more got the outcome. The other 24 predicted a win for Bradford.

MILTON KEYNES DONS 1 STOCKPORT COUNTY 2
Nick Powell's winner earned Stockport a 2-1 victory on the road for the second week running. Former Dons player Louie Barry scored for the fifth league game in a row to put the visitors ahead. 3 got this spot-on, and one more had the outcome. 17 predicted a win for the Dons.

NEWPORT COUNTY 1 BARROW 1
Dean Campbell's penalty earned a point for Barrow at 10-man Newport. A super 6 had this spot-on, and another 2 got the outcome.

After 6 weeks of mixed results, the season finally has take-off, all thanks to the fixtures picked by guest Tropical_Us. In those first 6 weeks the 40 games had only produced one 1-1 and one 1-0. In the 9 seasons of my administration those results had always come out top, so it was only a matter of time before they made their mark. That time was this week with four games ending 1-1, and the first three matches finishing 1-0. Helping to give us a very decent 28 spot-ons in total. Two members took full advantage of the return to form for those popular results, by getting three 3 pointers each. They were Colukev, who got the 1-1 draws at Peterborough, Bradford and Newport, and also three outcomes to make him the weeks top scorer with a brilliant 12 points. Also Daniel, who had the 1-0 wins for Fulham and Norwich and the Derby 1-1. He also got two outcomes to give him an excellent 11 points. Best of the four members to get two 3 pointers was wessex_exile, who got the Ipswich 1-0 and the Derby 1-1. He also had five outcomes to give him an excellent 11 points. Best of those to have one 3 pointer was TheRams, who had the Ipswich 1-0 and five outcomes to give him a decent 8 points.

In the Premier By having the Ipswich 1-0 spot-on concordman increased his lead to a healthy 7 points. Four outcomes were enough for ghughes11 to remain in the other Charity Shield spot. No change to third and fourth as well, with thrillseeker getting the Newport 1-1 spot-on, and noah4x4 having the Norwich 1-0 spot-on. An impressive six outcomes for unitedwhites, and he remains fifth, but only on the first to post rule from RSCOSWORTH, who got the Derby 1-1 spot-on, to move up a couple of places, and back into the top half again. He in turn is only ahead of blueeagle on the first to post rule. By being the only one in this division to have two 3 pointers, the wins for Ipswich and Stockport, mfb_cufc moves up three places to eighth, but only on the first to post rule from oxfcolu, who drops out of the top half for the first time this season. Despite having the Stockport 2-1 spot-on Sector4 remains in the bottom three, where he is joined for the first time by Moor_Pinot, despite him having the Fulham 1-0 spot-on. A good Bradford 1-1 spot-on for GOSBTS, but he remains bottom. Things remain very tight in this division with only 8 points separating second to second from bottom.

In Division One The excellent week for Daniel has increased his lead to a good 5 points. An excellent week also for wessex_exile, who continued his good recent form by moving up another two places into the other automatic spot, as they both look for an instant return to the Premier after last seasons relegation. Having the Newport 1-1 spot-on made sure Blue4U2 would remain third. Three outcomes for early season leader BFG, means he has to settle for fourth. The top scoring performance from Colukev moves him up a massive six places into fifth. Two 3 pointers, the Ipswich 1-0 and the Derby 1-1, moved basher2010 up three places, and back into the final play-off place. Just losing out on the first to post rule are Madeira163, who got the Norwich 1-0 spot-on, and bwildered, who had the Newport 1-1 spot-on. The final one to get a double figure score this week was Lewis_1, who had the Stockport 2-1 and the Newport 1-1 spot-on, and his decent 10 points moved him up three places. Even though he picked some good fixtures, they didn't do Tropical_Us any favours, and he drops five places, but is still only a point from the play-offs with things very tight in this league as well. Despite getting a 3 pointer each burnsieespana, who got the Newport 1-1, and Jorash63, who had the Ipswich 1-0, they both find themselves lower, but only two points from the play-offs. By finally getting his first 3 pointer, TheRams moves up a couple of places, and off the bottom.

THE TABLES (50 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
