Happy League 2023/24 Week 14 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 4th November 15.00 21:57 - Oct 28 with 2559 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 13 results

AFC BOURNEMOUTH 2 BURNLEY 1

Philip Billing's stunning second-half strike helped Bournemouth come from behind to claim their first Premier League win of the season. A great 8 got this spot-on, and another 2 had the outcome.

SOUTHAMPTON 3 BIRMINGHAM CITY 1
Southampton take their unbeaten run to six, as Wayne Rooney's dismal start to life as Birmingham manager continued as his side suffered a third consecutive Championship defeat. Well done to Jorash63 for being the only one to have this spot-on, and a further 20 got the outcome, with 10 going for a 2-1 in what was equally the weeks most predicted score.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS 1 LEICESTER CITY 2
Harry Winks scored his first goal since January 2022 as Championship leaders Leicester left it late to beat 10-man QPR, and give them a ninth league win in a row, a seventh out of seven on the road and a 13th from 14 games this season. Everybody predicted a win for Leicester, with 3 getting it spot-on, and 10 going for a 2-0 in what was the weeks other most predicted score.

CHARLTON ATHLETIC 0 BOLTON WANDERERS 2
Bolton chalked up a third straight away league win with two goals in the first 21 minutes, as Charlton only manage to have one shot on target. Nobody had this spot-on, but 6 did get the outcome.

OXFORD UNITED 2 WYCOMBE WANDERERS 2
Cameron Brannagan's 96th minute penalty salvaged a point for promotion-chasing Oxford. This was the third second-half penaty that had earlier seen Wycombe come from behind to lead. Again nobody got this spot-on, though 4 did have the outcome. 21 predicted a win for Oxford.

STEVENAGE 3 DERBY COUNTY 1
A first victory in four games lifted Stevenage up to sixth in the League One table, but a second straight away defeat for Derby saw some of their fans call for the removal of manager Paul Warne. Another game with no 3 pointer, and only mfb_cufc got the outcome. 18 predicted a win for Derby.

FOREST GREEN ROVERS 2 CRAWLEY TOWN 1
Forest Green moved three points clear of the League Two relegation zone, as they came from behind to beat poor old sad Crawley. Only thrillseeker and RSCOSWORTH got this spot-on, and another 5 had the outcome.

MILTON KEYNES DONS 3 SWINDON TOWN 2
MK Dons made it back-to-back wins with this narrow victory. Another game with no 3 pointer, but 9 did get the outcome.

NOTTS COUNTY 0 WREXHAM 2
Goals from Elliot Lee and Ollie Palmer within four second-half minutes gave Wrexham victory against their promotion rivals. A final game this week with no 3 pointer, though 6 did have the outcome.

SUTTON UNITED 2 BRADFORD CITY 1
Harry Beautyman's first League goal since the opening day, in the 87th minute, fired Sutton to victory. The three goals came from the games only three shots on target. Only blueeagle and Lewis_1 had this spot-on, and only basher2010 got the outcome. 20 predicted a win for Bradford.

The previous two 10 game guest weeks had been the highlight of the season so far, but this weeks one will not be joining them, after what proved to be another tough week. It started promisingly, with the Bournemouth 2-1 giving us half of the weeks total spot-ons, and the wins for Southampton and Leicester producing plenty of points. It then all started to go downhill very quick, with plenty of early halloween shocks. Those final seven games only achieved two 3 pointers each for League Two's bottom two teams, and the other five not having a spot-on. Despite this four members did well to have two 3 pointers, with the best coming from blueeagle, who had the 2-1 wins for Bournemouth and Sutton, and three outcomes, to give him an excellent 9 points, and a share of being the weeks top scorer. Also thrillseeker, who got the 2-1 wins for Bournemouth and Forest Green, Blue4U2, who had the 2-1 wins for Bournemouth and Leicester, and finally Jorash63, who got the Bournemouth 2-1 to go with the good Southampton 3-1 prediction. They each also had two outcomes to give them all a very decent 8 points. Best of those to get one 3 pointer was mfb_cufc, who had the Bournemouth 2-1, and six outcomes to give him 9 points, and a share of being the weeks top scorer.
Looking at the 94 games played so far this season, they have produced 37 (39.36%) home wins, 21 (22.34%) draws, and 36 (38.30%) away wins. The home wins with 2 in every 5 games, are running at historical level, but the big difference is the away wins up about 5%, at the expence of the draws. It is the aways that have the seasons top result with the 0-1 finishing that way 11 times. Two ahead of the 1-1. The best result for a home is the 2-1 and 2-0 with 7 each. One ahead of the popular 1-0, that has struggled to get going so far.

Happy Cup Just a reminder. The draw for the 1st Round has been made, and the games are ready for predicting. All details on the separate Happy Cup thread.

In the Premier By having the Bournemouth 2-1 spot-on, concordman has increased his lead to an impressive 9 points from unitedwhites, who remains in the other Charity Shield spot, with four outcomes. After a slow start to the season, that saw mfb_cufc often occupying a place in the bottom three, a recent revival, mainly due to getting 26 outcomes in the last 5 weeks, has seen him climb from tenth in Week 9 to third this week. The decent week for thrillseeker was enough for him to remain fourth. The top scoring performance from blueeagle moved him up a couple of places to a season high fifth. With just six outcomes in the last three weeks, ghughes11 has dropped from a promising second to sixth. Despite having the Bournemouth 2-1 spot-on, noah4x4 drops into the bottom half for the first time this season. The remaining five places remain the same as last week. It doesn't look as though GOSBTS will be returning, so for the second season running, there are only going to be two relegation places to avoid.

In Division One Five outcomes were enough for basher2010 to remain top for the second week running. The decent week for Jorash63 moved him up another three places into the other automatic spot, to complete a meteoric rise, that saw him twelfth in Week 9. Just losing out on the first to post rule is TheRams, after getting five outcomes. Those two are proving to be as good at predicting football matches, as they are at playing bowls, once they got used to the pace of the green. After spending the last eleven weeks in the automatic places, Daniel drops to fourth. After joining him in the top two for four weeks recently, wessex_exile drops to fifth. Only two outcomes for Tropical_Us, but he remains in the final play-off place. Thanks to having the Leicester 2-1 spot-on, gerry_us moved up a couple places, and to within 5 points of the play-offs. The decent week for Blue4U2 only moved him up a place, but more importantly within 6 points of the play-offs.

THE TABLES (94 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
