Week 18 results

ARSENAL 2 WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 1

Arsenal moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League table with this victory. Everyone predicted a win for Arsenal, and 4 got it spot-on.

BRENTFORD 3 LUTON TOWN 1
After successive losses in the Premier League Brentford returned to winning ways with a deserved victory. Well done to Colukev for being the only one to have this spot-on, and a further 23 got the outcome, with 10 going for a 2-1, in what was the weeks most predicted score.

BURNLEY 5 SHEFFIELD UNITED 0
Burnley thrashed 10-man Sheffield United to record their first home points of the season. Nobody got this spot-on, but 17 did have the outcome.

BIRMINGHAM CITY 0 ROTHERHAM UNITED 0
Wayne Rooney's Birmingham failed to win again in front of their own fans, as Rotherham picked up only their second point away from home this season, in this bore draw. Nobody had this spot-on, and only Lewis_1 and Colukev got the outcome. The other 24 predicted a win for Birmingham.

HULL CITY 1 WATFORD 2
Watford have lost just one of their past nine matches, as a 40 yard goal from Wesley Hoedt clinched them this victory. 3 got this spot-on, and another 6 had the outcome.

SWANSEA CITY 1 HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 1
Charlie Patino's 94th minute goal saw struggling Swansea salvage a point, but they take their winless run at home to five. A super 6 had this spot-on, and nobody got the outcome. 18 predicted a win for Swansea.

It was one of those weeks where all the home teams were strongly fancied, but predicting football matches is never that easy, and so it proved. The Premier League teams did their bit by sticking to the script, though the Championship teams forgot their words, as none came close to winning. Despite that, this was still the third best six game week this season. Even though there was only 14 spot-ons, a big 70 outcomes, thanks mainly to the Premier League victors, gave the week a boost. With 3 pointers hard to come by (only 10 members got one), four members did well to get two, with the best coming from Blue4U2, who got the Watford 2-1 and the Swansea 1-1, and three outcomes, to make him the weeks top scorer, with a superb 9 points. Only failing to get the Birmingham yawn fest to give him a full house. Also unitedwhites, who had the Arsenal 2-1 and the Swansea 1-1, and Colukev, who got the Swansea 1-1 to go with the good Brentford 3-1 prediction. They each also got two outcomes to give them both an excellent 8 points. Finally basher2010, who had the 2-1 wins for Arsenal and Watford, and one outcome, to give him a decent 7 points. Best of those to get one 3 pointer was Madeira163, who got the Swansea 1-1, and four outcomes, to give him a decent 7 points. He also only missed out on a full house by failing to get the Birmingham bore draw.

In the Premier Having the Arsenal 2-1 spot-on means concordman maintains his 10 point lead. It is now from unitedwhites, whose excellent week moved him up three places, and back into the other Charity Shield spot, after two weeks away. Remaining third is blueeagle, as he was the only other one to get a 3 pointer in this division, the Watford 2-1. This means only outcomes for thrillseeker and mfb_cufc, drops both of them a place to fourth and fifth. Just outcomes for the rest of the division, means there is no change to last weeks positions. Late goals can make such a difference to anybody's weekly score, as noah4x4 found out this week, when the late ones for Wolves and Swansea robbed him of two 3 pointers, to take his run without one to five weeks.

In Division One The decent week for basher2010 took his run at the top to seven weeks. The solid week for Daniel, that included getting the Swansea 1-1 spot-on, cemented his place in the other automatic spot. At the same time creating a 5 point cushion back to the third. A position that the top scoring performance from Blue4U2 moved up four places to obtain. A place he last occupied in Week 7. Treading a very similar path is BFG, who got a 3 pointer for the fifth week running, the Swansea 1-1, to move him up a place to fourth. A place he also last occupied in Week 7. All of this means only outcomes the last two weeks for Jorash63 and TheRams, drops them to fifth and sixth. Despite getting the Arsenal 2-1 spot-on, burnsieespana drops out of the play-offs, after having a look for one week. The excellent week for Colukev only moved him up a place to eighth, but more inportantly moved him two points nearer to the play-offs. It is now a 5 point gap back to the ninth Tropical_Us, who slips further from the play-offs, after going four weeks without a 3 pointer. We have only to go back to Week 9 to find wessex_exile at the summit, but after taking his run without a 3 pointer to eight weeks, he is now in a season low eleventh. The competition for the wooden spoon is stronger than normal, and after spending two weeks relinquishing it, durham_exile has got it back again, but is only 14 points from the play-offs, as the decent week for Madeira163 moved him up a couple of places.

THE TABLES (128 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
