Hospitality Rate Relief 09:59 - Apr 1 with 322 viewsunion_jack

This was on Sky News this morning but nothing as far as I can see in Wales Online. How strange🧐. Likely to be very damaging for the industry as prices will go up and customers will fall away. Welcome to temperate Wales.

Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Rates Relief 2023-24
All applications for relief should be made to your local authority. Links to the relevant local authority application forms are available here.
In 2023-24, the Welsh Government will provide £140m of targeted non-domestic rates support to businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors.
Businesses will be eligible for 75% off their liability for the financial year. The amount of relief under the Welsh Government’s Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Rates Relief scheme will be capped at £110,000 per business across Wales.
It will be for local authorities to determine how they wish to administer the scheme to maximise take-up and minimise the administrative burden for ratepayers and for local authority staff.
Local authorities are responsible for providing businesses with clear and accessible information on the details and administration of the scheme.

More important for the WG to spend millions propping up a failed airport, expanding the numbers of AM's and speed limit signs than in supporting one of the few sectors that Wales has left.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

A very important sector at that, in so many ways.

Indeed.

Such has been the idiocy of the WG's approach to problems in tourism/hospitality, you could almost believe that they were purposely trying to kill them off.

Without hospitality and tourism West and North Wales will be crippled. Never mind its Westminster that will pick up the bill for unemployment and other benefits, while the Senedd smile at the reduced emissions that will prevail due to fewer tourists.

Maybe the WG are full of Kilkenny types who don’t want the ‘Bill and Joans from Derby’ spending their English pounds here. Wales for the Welsh innit!

And leaving the Labour voting areas of the South Wales Valleys relatively untouched, not that it matters because they will vote for them anyway.

West Wales does have a reputation for being "Little England". North Wales is Plaid territory.

Maybe there's some truth in the sabotage theory after all. Wouldn't put it past them for a moment.

Winston.
Regarding north Wales,it’s only east of the Conwy river really and contempt for Plaid is pretty evident on the borderlands abutting Wrexham .
The old industrial villages and towns of Gwynedd are as you say.
Attitudes are as entrenched as those in the likes of Neath ,Port Talbot or Ebbw Vale .

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not
