The HGPL Week 35 (of 37), 15:07 Sat kick off, RIP Hillsborough angels.. 17:23 - Apr 7 with 1962 views | Barsidepete | 7 minutes.. ok, ... onward,... *MFB_CUFC with an eye-opening 17 pts (4 spot-on) + 5 outcomes.. even got U's 1-2 Tranmere, the most elusive 3-pointer of the four Mick got, and obviously that's an outcome no one else dared touch.. *side note, welcome your season 12 HGPL admin, MFB_CUFC ... GATE16 still with a strong 5 points clear in the Prem .. (6, if you factor that impressive '28' tiebreaker).. *DURHAM_EXILE leaped from the quagmire of the relegation zone with a massive 11 points into 7th .. He picked Brentford 3-1 Notts County on the nose, as did MFB, .. also Blackburn 2-0 Ipswich (NOAH4x4, BLUE4U2, and MFB in that mix), .. and Wolves 2-0 P'Boro (along with THRILLSEEKER, GOONERDES, and THENET) .. *other subplots yet to be addressed as we have only 22 fixtures to be sussed.. like two "Exiles" battling for that automatic 3rd promoted position in D1 ... The Happy Grumpy League Week 35 (of 37), updated tables, 15:07 Sat deadline on 07:20 - Apr 8 with 1354 views | Gate16 | FULHAM v NORWICH 1-0 LIVERPOOL v MAN CITY (Sun) 2-1 NOTTS COUNTY v PORT VALE 1-2 TRANMERE v SHREWSBURY 2-1 WIGAN v ARSENAL (FA Cup -Sat)* 0-3 HULL v SHEFF UTD (FA Cup -Sun)* 2-0
The Happy Grumpy League Week 35 (of 37), updated tables, 15:07 Sat deadline on 09:41 - Apr 8 with 1345 views | noah4x4 | Shakes Gate16's hand...this is it buddy; almost the final throw of the dice. A great effort by mfb_cufc to land 17, and still be on your tail...... 1 - 0 FULHAM v NORWICH 2 - 1 LIVERPOOL v MAN CITY (Two Gerrard penalties again) 2 - 2 NOTTS COUNTY v PORT VALE 2 - 1 TRANMERE v SHREWSBURY 0 - 2 WIGAN v ARSENAL (FA Cup -Sat)* 1 - 0 HULL v SHEFF UTD (FA Cup -Sun)* This week's HGPL "pick six" have extra interest. When the U's win at Stevenage, the above predicted results would mean Notts County, Shrewsbury and Stevenage are all (almost) down bar the shouting (e.g. then needing to win too many games with only four left), whilst Tranmere are almost certainly safe. Crewe (a) then lose at Wolves; and Carlisle lose (a) at Preston; after which the U's four point gap (3 + our goal difference) looks almost unassailable; because one more U's point to take us to 47 points (a draw taken from either Oldham or Crewe or Walsall) and the gap is then effectively five points (including GD). It takes three games (Win + Draw + Draw) or instead Two Wins to get five (+) points and Crewe then have only four games left and Carlisle five. If we beat Stevenage; yet lose to Oldham and take a point at Crewe, then Crewe are still scuppered as they DROP two points. If the U's simply win ANY two games (provided one is against a relegation rival) we are probably then safe on 49 points, as others need 50 (given our GD). So the drinks are on me down the Victoria Inn Saturday night if the U's win, I nail 2 HGPL points for 2 correct (Division One) results above; and Crew and Carlisle lose as the U's are then staying up and I win the HGPL prediction league (unless mfb-cufc can repeat his magnificent run on the trails in the final straight plus a tad more). Fingers crossed...... [Post edited 8 Apr 2014 9:52]

Excellent insight, cheers, Noah. One correction, though. The winner of the HGPL is the Prem Champion, not highest overall point total, if that so happens. That's one of the reasons promotion from D1 is a big deal. *shakes hand* looks like you're automatically promoted. Now focus on the D1 title

Are you referring to Thrillseeker's final week total to nick the D1 title a few years ago? I wouldn't bet against MFB right now. Something in the water ;)
