Welcome everybody to a new season of The Usual NFL Prediction League. Pete has set the scene with his usual in depth analysis on the other thread, and has been generous enough to let me present the fixtures for the first week.

You are all familiar with the rules now. Just pick the winner (overtime included) in the 16 weeks of the regular season, six 1 point games, and two 2 point games.

As M and I have discussed, he'll likely have control of 6 of 16 this season --we'll suss how to do the playoffs around Christmastime ... If someone wants to guest present, let either one of us know either here or Inbox.

Anyone still welcome to join. And even if you don't and have an interest in the NFL prediction league, we'll do our best to make it entertaining and give you context.

Reminder, NFL international series at Wembley -- not friendlies but the real thing:

Miami Dolphins v New York Jets (4 October)
Jacksonville Jaguars v Buffalo Bills (25 October)
Kansas City Chiefs v Detroit Lions (1 November)

It's really cool that there is such an interest in the odd-shaped-ball-league across the pond. We get every BPL game here and a handful from the Championship. And when I'm not there, I have to get my ColU fix via U's Player.

Vikings, "obviously." But the Niners didn't make them feel at home in Santa Clara, California--closer to San Jose than SF these days in their new stadium, where so happens the Golden Superb Owl 50 will take place in February 2016. *get it? the Golden State and Super Bowl 50..

But Packers are mortal enemies of the Minnesota Vikings. Although there are indeed more Packers fans (or Vikings fans) in Iowa than of the Kansas City Chiefs, a mere 2 1/2 hours drive from Des Moines, IA. Are you conflicted about the Vikes or the Pack?

Many national pundits are picking Seattle to win at Lambeau Field, tv and radio.

What's funny about Lambeau is that the capacity is 80,735 north of a semi-smallish town, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And there is a, wait for it, 80,000 waiting list for season tickets

Baltimore up the Road hates the Redskins so much they won't be showing the Rams at Redskins on their tv station in B'More.

Talk about a hate. The Washington Nationals baseball team plays at Nationals Park v Baltimore Orioles starting Monday through Wednesday, 3 games, next week, but not showing the NFL game the network will feature in the 1 pm hour time slot, Sunday.

We have a derby here. Washington and Baltimore HATE each other. Even though the Skins game at home is v the Rams at 1 pm (Eastern time) locally, and the Baltimore Ravens Game at Oakland Raiders is at 4 pm.

That's like Colchester-Southend,.. Ipswich-Norwich in terms of disgust between the cities. Separated by a short drive.

Thursday night:

DENVER BRONCOS 31 at Kansas City Chiefs 24 -- Denver improves to 2-0 and KC levels at 1-1 early days.

2 touchdowns for the Broncos in the last two minutes. The second on a fumble return.

Denver quarterback Peyton Manning completed 26 of 45 passes for 256 yards and 3 TD's, one interception in the mix.

Manning becomes the second player in history to reach the 70,000 passing yards mark. He's in good company. The other is Green Bay Packers' legend Brett Favre.
