"Luxury you can afford by Cyril and Lord". Late 60's early 70's if I recall. Never forgotten that catchphrase and my kids (both 40ish) think I am mad!

A selection of my favourites, mainly from the 70's

Leonard Rossiter and Joan Collins with Cinzano Bianco (the aeroplane flight)

Cadbury's Dairy Milk (with Cilla)

Cadbury's Milk Tray (various spoofs of 007)

Cadbury's Fruit n Nut (various but my favourite is the Secretary "Full stop Sir)

R Whites Lemonade - I'm a secret Lemonade drinker, R Whites, I'm trying to give it up but it's one of those nights! R Whites

Brut 33 with Henry Cooper and Kevin Keegan - Splash it all Over

Cresta Lemonade - It's frothy Man!

Hovis Advert filmed at Gold Hill Shaftesbury

Sugar Puffs - Tell them about the Honey. Mummy

PG Tips - any advert with the Chimps

Campari and Soda - Lorraine Chase - were you truly wafted here from paradise - no, Luton Airport!

Also the Chewy Mints advert where the MD says chewy mints, a mint should be like this - rockard! and destroys the table.

Also the Straight Schweppes adverts which coincided with Wimbledon, play on words mainly most entertaining.

"I bet he drinks Carling Black Label" back in the 80s featuring The Oblivion Boys aka Mark Arden and Stephen Frost. The one spoofing the Dambusters was particularly good.

Pity the adverts were better than most of the output on ITV.

Talking of bad...am I the only one cringing every time Mo Farah bigs up Quorn mince? Good job he can run because I don't think he'll make it as an actor.

Poll: Safe standing at football; yes, know or don't know?

Back in the late 80s there was a massive advert hoarding at the top of Dirkhill Rd in Bradford with two eggs in egg cups, one standard, the other some sort of massive speckled ostrich egg, with the obligatory "Bet he drinks Carling Black Label" strapline - to which someone had spray-painted beneath it, "yeah, it makes you fat and spotty".

This was in fact the second act of civil disobedience on the same hoarding - before that, it was Golden Virginia with "Roll your own satisfaction", and "Dig your own grave" added.

I always suspected it was the work of the same person.

Any of the long running adverts during the '80s and '90s From Hamlet, with the catch phrase "Happiness is a cigar called hamlet" was my favourite.

You obviously watched too much television in those day Durham. Looks like you should have got out more!

Gerry - you are absolutely right, but the adverts always seemed better than the programs!

These days the quality is nowhere near as good and the vast majority are for betting companies, very poor!
