Kris O'Leary has undergone a double hernia operation since the season ended

O'Leary who has signed a new one year contract to stay at the Liberty became the first Swansea player to win two Championship medals last season and will be celebrating his testimonial match at the Liberty on 2 August.

O'Leary will be in rehabilitation for four to six weeks but will be able to take part in the pre-season preparations when the Swans report back at the end of June.

"The operation went as well as we could have asked," physio Richie Evans told the Evening Post. "It wasn't a major operation but Kris showed symptoms towards the end of the season and we thought it would be best if he had an operation.

"We felt it would be best to get it done now so he could go into pre-season training fully fit and raring to go. He has been given a full programme of exercises to get on with to build up core strength, and that will benefit him hugely in his recovery.

"We finished the season with almost a fully fit squad," said Evans. "We had 28 players training every day for the last two months of the season.

"That was down to a few things, particularly our injury prevention strategy, which is a combination of low-level weights and different exercises before training."

He added: "I've still been working with Owain along with Colin Pascoe over the last week. Owain will be joining up with the Wales squad soon and we worked on strengthening and fitness exercises before he meets up with the team."
