Here we go again — Cellino found guilty of second VAT offence
Tuesday, 23rd Jun 2015 13:51 by Tim Whelan

Massimo Cellino is likely to face a second Football League investigation after being found guilty of failing to pay the VAT that was due on a Range Rover that he imported into Italy from the United States.

A court in Sardinia has fined him €40,000 (approximately £28,400) though he was acquitted of some other customs offences. The Football League will now establish whether this has been classed as a ‘dishonest act’ by the court judge, which would lead them to bar him from running Leeds United for a second time.

And even that is not going to be the end of Cellino’s legal troubles. He also faces yet another case over a second yacht, the inappropriately named ‘Lucky 23’. This was also imported into Italy from the US in May 2011, and in that instance Cellino allegedly failed to pay the €84,122 duty that was due. The next hearing in that case will take place on October 16th.

So just when everything seemed to be settling down at Elland Road it’s quite possible that everything will be thrown back into a fresh period of uncertainty, with Cellino and his legal team doing battle with the League as to whether he should or should not be disqualified from owning the club.

When will it end?
