Happy League 2016/17 Week 20 (of 38) - Deadline 15.00 Boxing Day 20:21 - Dec 17 with 1467 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 19 Results

STOKE 2 LEICESTER 2

Leicester recover from two goals down with 10 men, to claim an incredible draw. Just the 2 (ethicsgirl and Sector4) got this spot-on, and there were 3 who had the outcome. There were 16 who predicted a victory for Stoke, with those who went for a 2-1 just missing out.

WEST HAM 1 HULL 0
West Ham get an undeserved victory, with a controversial penalty. The 4 who had this spot-on wont mind that, and a further 16 got the outcome, with 11 going for 2-1, making it the weeks most predicted result.

BURTON 1 NEWCASTLE 2
Newcastle stay top of the table with this win, in their first ever meeting with Burton. There were 22 who predicted a win for Newcastle, but only 2 (WessiehomesPete and Daniel) got it spot-on.

LEEDS 1 BRENTFORD 0
An 89th minute goals wins it for Leeds, with their only shot on target. Good news for the 3 who had this spot-on, and the 19 who got the outcome.

WIGAN 2 IPSWICH 3
Another late winner, this time in the 88th minute, as Ipswich consigned Wigan to a fifth-straight home league defeat. A brilliant pick by OhOriOri to be the only one to get this spot-on, but 8 did have the outcome.

BARNET 1 STEVENAGE 2
Barnet lose for the first time in nine games. Well done to burnsieespana for being the only one to get 3 points for this, and only 2 had the outcome. There were 14 who predicted a win for Barnet.

CAMBRIDGE UNITED 2 CREWE 1
Cambridge move into the play-off places for the first time this season, having been bottom until the end of September. There were 6 who had this spot-on, with a further 13 getting the outcome.

COLCHESTER 2 NOTTS COUNTY 1
The resurgent U's came from behind to condemn Notts County to their sixth-straight league defeat. There were 5 who got this spot-on, with another 17 having the outcome.

EXETER 2 MANSFIELD 0
Exeter finally get their first home league win of the season, as Mansfield end with 10 men. Just the 2 (sevebalo and gsy163 had this spot-on, and there were 6 who got the outcome.

WYCOMBE 1 LEYTON ORIENT 0
A Kashket goal against his former club, was enough to win it for Wycombe. There were 4 who got this spot-on, with a further 13 having the outcome.

Another high scoring week, with many of the weeks good things delivering. Not so easy to find those important 3 pointers, but a seasons best 117 other outcomes, guaranteed a reasonable week for almost everybody. It was a good week for mrhappy to put his faith in the 1-0 home win. West Ham, Leeds and Wycombe produced three for him, and with four other outcomes, he obtained an impressive 13 points. That was only enough to share the honour of being the weeks top scorer though, as WessiehomesPete also achieved an impressive 13 points as well. He also had three spot-on, the wins for Newcasltle, Leeds and Colchester, and also four other outcomes. There were seven members who managed to get two spot-on, the best of which was concordman, who got 3 points for the Cambridge and Colchester wins, but was the only one of the seven to have five other outcomes and a decent 11 points. A special mention for Tropical_Us, who managed to get eight other outcomes, and no 3 pointers. Must have been getting tips off noah4x4.

In the Premier, just the one 3 pointer for burnsieespana, but seven other outcomes enables him to stretch his lead by a further 2 points. Plenty of points for most in this league, but not a lot of change of places. "Only" 5 points for wessex_exile, sees him drop three places, after a brief flirtation with a Charity Shield spot. That third place has been claimed by sevebalo, but only by virtue of the tie-break rules. The bottom three remains the same for the third week running, but with only 8 points separating Charity Shield and the relegation zone, there is plenty to play for at the half-way stage of the season.

In Division One, another very good week for basher2010, enables him to also stretch his lead by a further 2 points. Another no show from Pinault_Noir, that I fear is going to lead to another withdrawl, has allowed Colukev to consolidate in the other automatic spot. Good weeks for gsy163 and noah4x4, cemented their play-off spots, and kept both in the running for Champions League qualification. The top scoring effort from mrhappy put him back into the play-offs. This weeks other top scorer wessiehomesPete, only moved up two places, but more importantly moved 5 points nearer to the play-offs.

It is now only two weeks and 12 games before we know who the qualifiers are for this seasons Champion League. With jonestones qualifying automatically, that final eleventh spot is now held by mrhappy with his 85 points. There are six members within 4 points of this total, so qualification is far from cut and dried.

THE TABLES (138 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
