Week 20 Results ARSENAL 1 WEST BROM 0 A late winner for Arsenal, as they keep their first clean sheet in nine league games. All 25 members predicted an Arsenal victory, but only mfb_cufc had it spot-on. There were 10 who went for a 2-0 win, in what was the weeks most predicted score. BURNLEY 1 MIDDLESBROUGH 0 Burnley are another team to get a late winner this week. That is good news for the 6 who got this spot-on, and another 11 had the outcome. CHELSEA 3 BOURNEMOUTH 0 Chelsea set a club record of 12 straight Premier League wins, after this comfortable win. There were 24 who predicted a win for Chelsea, and just the 3 had it spot-on. The third goal scored in the 93rd minute, was bad news for the nine who had predicted them to win 2-0. LEICESTER 0 EVERTON 2 It is now only one win in their last nine league games for Leicester, after another defeat. Nobody got this spot-on, and only 3 had the outcome. That was only the third 0-2 result we have had this season. MANCHESTER UNITED 3 SUNDERLAND 1 A fourth successive league win for Man Utd. The third banker on this weeks games had 24 predicting a Man Utd victory, and only 2 (burnsieespana and jonestones) got it spot-on. It was a Sunderland goal in the 91st minute that foiled the eight who had Man Utd to win 3-0. SWANSEA 1 WEST HAM 4 It is now 29 goals conceded in 11 games since Bradley became Swansea manager. Not surprisingly nobody got 3 points for predicting this, but 11 did have the outcome. A late Christmas gift with the wins for Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd. Plenty of other outcomes for everybody here, but not for the first time this season, the good things have not produced many 3 pointers. It was Burnley who got half of this weeks total 3 pointers, in a week dominated by the other outcomes, with the total of 91, being the most for a six game week this season. There are such fine margins between getting three points or one, as the games at Chelsea and Man Utd showed this week. There were just the two members who got two 3 pointers this week, the best of which was mfb_cufc, who had the Burnley win to go with his Arsenal win spot-on, and with three other outcomes, he is the weeks top scorer, with a decent 9 points. Just touched off for this honour was Tropical_Us, who had the wins for Burnley and Chelsea spot-on, and a very good 8 points. In the Premier, it is a reduced lead for burnsieespana, as the top scoring effort from mfb_cufc closes the gap to 4 points. Just one significant change in this league, sees wessex_exile reclaim the final Charity Shield spot he relinquished the previous week, as he swaps places with sevebalo. The only other change has BFG moving up a place, but still in the bottom three, that has contained the same three members for the last seven weeks now. In Division One, a reduced lead also for basher2010, but in his case by only the one point, as he stretches his run at the top to 11 weeks. Continuing their rise through the league together are noah4x4 and mrhappy, up another place each, and now in sight of an automatic spot. Something that looked highly unlikely only a short time ago. It has been an up and down season for WessiehomesPete, and it is certainly an up this week, as he moves up four, and into the final play-off spot. Another no show from johnnyboy53, sees him marooned at the bottom, with the wooden spoon looking certain now. The Champions League qualification will be decided after this weeks games, and that vital eleventh spot is now held by gsy163 with 91 points, but that is only by virtue of more 3 pointers than Tropical_Us. So this looks like going to the final game of 2016, before we know who has qualified. THE TABLES (144 out of 280 played) (Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post) Week 21 Fixtures PRESTON v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY WOLVES v QPR BRISTOL ROVERS v AFC WIMBLEDON OXFORD UNITED v WALSALL GRIMSBY v BLACKPOOL NEWPORT v EXETER Good luck, and a Happy New Year to you all.
