Happy League 2016/17 Week 37 (of 38) - Deadline 15.00 Saturday 00:01 - Apr 18 with 1831 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 36 Results

CAMBRIDGE UNITED 1 EXETER 0

Cambridge maintain their play-off hopes with this narrow win. Only 2 got this spot-on, but 12 did have the outcome, with 10 going for a 2-1, in what was the weeks most predicted score.

CARLISLE 1 STEVENAGE 1
Ex U's Jabo Ibehre scores for third game running, to rescue a point for Carlisle. There were 3 who had this spot-on, and 2 more got the outcome.

LEYTON ORIENT 2 HARTLEPOOL 1
Orient keep their slim hopes of survival alive, as they came from behind to beat 10-man Hartlepool. There were 4 who got this spot-on, and 4 also had the outcome.

MANSFIELD 1 LUTON 1
Danny Hylton's 26th goal of the season rescues a point for Luton. Again there were 4 who had this spot-on, and another 2 got the outcome. There were 12 who predicted a win for Mansfield, with 8 going for a 1-0.

MORECAMBE 1 COLCHESTER 1
Ex U's, the useless Michael Rose, scores the 88th minute penalty, that puts a big dent in the U's play-off hopes. Well done to sevebalo for being the only one to get this spot-on, and just 2 more had the outcome. There were 15 who predicted the U's to win.

PLYMOUTH 6 NEWPORT 1
Plymouth confirm their promotion in style, as they thrash a Newport team, who did nothing to help with their relegation. This was the weeks banker for most, with 19 going for a Plymouth victory, but nobody had it spot-on.

Six games from League 2 this week, with five of them proving to be the close affairs they looked beforehand. So with three of them ending 1-1, it was a bit surprising this popular score only produced eight 3 pointers from those games. With the other three games finishing as home wins, we had a reasonable return of 14 spot-ons overall, but with Plymouth providing almost half of the 41 outcomes, it was a struggle without a 3 pointer this week. Somebody who didn't find it a struggle, in fact he had an outstanding week was sevebalo, who had the Cambridge 1-0 and the Carlisle 1-1, to go with the Morecambe 1-1 spot-on, and with two other outcomes, he is the weeks top scorer with a brilliant 11 points. The other meritorious performances came from Colukev, who had the 1 all draws at Carlisle and Mansfield spot-on, to give him an excellent 8 points, and RSCOSWORTH, who got 3 points for the Orient 2-1 and the Mansfield 1-1, on his way to a very good 7 points.

In the Premier, by getting the Orient 2-1 spot-on, burnsieespana reduces the mfb_cufc lead by those 3 points, and keeps his title aspirations alive. The final Charity Shield spot has been hotly contested throughout the season, and the position is now occupied by sevebalo, after his outstanding week gives him more 3 pointers than anybody in both leagues. Though with Sector4 just a point behind, this could be going to the last game of the season. A comment that almost certainly applies to the bottom as well, with only 5 points separating 6th to 10th. The good recent run continued for RSCOSWORTH this week, and finally took him out of the bottom three, helped by a no show from Tropical_Us, who replaces him in that final relegation spot.

In Division One, the competition for the automatic spots is turning out to be an absolute cracker. The 26 week reign at the top is finally over for basher2010, as the decent week from Colukev takes him to summit for the first time this season. With just 2 points separating the top three, this is turning out to be a 20 game season for those automatic places. Whoever misses out is assured of a play-off spot, along with mrhappy. Not a good week for gsy163, but he is still on course to make the play-offs for the third season in a row. As for the final play-off spot, that is another that is looking likely to go to the final game of the season as well.

So two big ten game weeks to go this season, and everything still to be decided, with everybody still having something to play for.

THE TABLES (260 out of 280 played)

Sorry MFB for missing the last two weeks. Gutted. We had no internet connection due to moving house and being off work. As I said, I'm gutted as both weeks I attempted to post, but the the connection on my phone was so rubbish that my predictions couldn't send. I had a total of 11 over the two weeks as well that would have made my predictions look a look more reset. I also lost out on any chance of progressing in the champions league. Still never mind.

Thanks for putting so much hard work into the league again this year, I've really enjoyed taking part again.

No problem, jonestones. Just so unfortunate to happen at this time of the season, especially as you had every chance of making the Charity Shield. Though a 2-1 win for Man City tomorrow will still give every chance of achieving that.

I wondered what had happened , Kev. It was obvious to me that your predictions were the bottom set, so they are the ones I went with.
