Week 37 Results
CHELSEA 4 TOTTENHAM 2
Tottenham have now lost their past seven FA Cup semi-finals in a row, as the Wembley curse strikes them again. Nobody got this spot-on, but 8 did have the outcome.
ARSENAL 1 MANCHESTER CITY 1 (Arsenal win 2-1 AET)
Arsenal reach their 20th FA Cup final, a competition record, as Man City manager Guardiola will end a season without a trophy for the first time in his coaching career. Predictions are for the score after 90 minutes, where it well done to OhOriOri for being the only one to have this spot-on, and just 2 got the outcome.
SWANSEA 2 STOKE 0
Swansea end a six-match winless run, as they beat a Stoke team who have now failed to score in six successive away games. Well done to jonestones for being the only one to get this spot-on, and a further 9 had the outcome.
WEST HAM 0 EVERTON 0
This is the first time in Lukaku's Everton career that he has failed to score against West Ham - having netted in each of his previous nine appearances against them. Nobody got 3 points for this game, and only 2 had the outcome.
HUDDERSFIELD 1 FULHAM 4
Fulham came from behind to score four first-half goals, as they thrash their play-off rivals. Again nobody got this spot-on, but 6 did have the outcome.
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 2 DERBY 1
Sheff Wed score with their only two shots on target, as they also came from behind to win and cement their play-off hopes. There were 5 who had this spot-on, and a further 13 got the outcome.
SHREWSBURY 1 SOUTHEND 0
Shrewsbury secure their League 1 status with this narrow win, and put a dent in the Southend play-off hopes. There were 4 who predicted a win for Shrewsbury, with all 4 going for a 2-0. While 13 predicted a Southend victory, with 9 going for a 2-1, in what was the weeks most predicted score.
SWINDON 1 SCUNTHORPE 2
Swindon confirm their relegation to League 2 after this defeat, while Scunthorpe have to settle for the play-offs. There were 4 who had this spot-on, and 9 more got the outcome.
CREWE 3 LEYTON ORIENT 0
Orient's unbroken 112-year stay in the Football League comes to an end, after this defeat confirms their relegation. Well done to BFG for being the only one to get this spot-on, and a further 17 had the outcome.
BRAINTREE 0 BARROW 2
Braintree need to win their last game of the season, away to play-off seeking Aldershot, to have any chance of avoiding relegation, as they lose to 10-man Barrow. Well done to Blue4U2 for being the only one to have this spot-on, and 3 more got the outcome.
The penultimate week of the season, and what has been a regular occurrence, a ten game week that fails to deliver the big points. Only Week 28 produced less points for a ten game week. It was only the 2-1 wins for Sheff Wed and Scunthorpe that saved the week from being a complete disaster, with nine of the weeks thirteen 3 pointers coming from those two games. By having those two 2-1 wins spot-on, and two other outcomes, concordman got a very good 8 points. It was enough for him to share the weeks top scorer honour with BFG, who also had the Scunthorpe 2-1 to go with his Crewe 3-0 spot-on. The other ten 3 pointers were shared by ten members, the best of which were mfb_cufc, burnsieespana and OhOriOri, who all got a decent 7 points.
In the Premier, thanks to a late Swindon goal, mfb_cufc had the Scunthorpe 2-1 spot-on, and maintains his 9 point lead. By having the Sheff Wed 2-1 spot-on, burnsieespana has all but guaranteed himself a Charity Shield spot, but is going to require the 13 he achieved in Week 4, to give him any chance of the title. With sevebalo and Sector4 both scoring 3 points, the former still holds onto that final Charity Shield spot, and thanks to his superior 3 pointer total, the latter will require at least two points more in the final week to overhaul him. The two missed weeks have dealt a big blow for jonestone to make the Charity Shield, and the 13 he scored in Week 34 would be good to repeat. At the bottom, a decent week for BFG, but his top scoring effort will not stop him from being relegated. The missed weeks have left wessex_exile with a mountain to climb to avoid the drop. So there is probably just the final spot to be decided, and that is now occupied by ethicsgirl, after missing nine of this weeks fixtures. But with only 3 points separating 8th to 10th, this could be going to the final game of the season again.
In Division One, with the top two both scoring 5 points, there is no change there, though Colukev did improve his 3 pointer total. It is going to require a big week from basher2010, to reclaim the automatic spot that had looked like a certainty for most of the season. If he fails he will join mrhappy in the play-offs. Not such a good week for gsy163, but he is still odds on to make the play-offs, and the top scoring effort has helped the concordman cause. But a big week from anybody down to OhOriOri in 10th, could still gatecrash the party.
THE TABLES (270 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
Week 38 Fixtures The final week of the season, and a reminder of the rule, with still so much to be decided. No more than four scores the same as your nearest opponent/s. The usual tie-breaker rules will apply to decide any issue, so the first to post will have more significance than normal.
