No I wouldn't. I'd have more respect for the guy. The fact remains that if he was still a back bencher at the time of the EU referendum he'd be one of the loudest railing against the EU, as he has for his entire career. However he was leader of the Labour Party and his key target demographic in the students were in the main pro EU, so he's sold out for me.

No you are wrong.

The Labour Party decided to back remain.

Labour said we would stand by the result and we gained seats

Well I think his actions have shown he was in favour. Like Battersea I am disappointed in his current stance though.
Big fat porkies? Been a lot flying round from all Parties. It matters not one jot. A Leader can only try to influence. They can't make policy and regretfully Labour are committed to the 'will of the people'.
There is a chink of light though. Their 'jobs first' negotiating stance is likely to fail imho. In such circumstances, assuming they are in power of course, they might well go back to a parliamentary vote or even another GE if it is beyond doubt hundreds of thousands of high paid jobs are going out the window.

"regretfully Labour are committed to the 'will of the people'."

...says it all.

I don't understand how I'm wrong. Several members of the Labour Party campaigned for leave. No doubt corbyn would have been one of them if he had been a back bencher. Do you disagree with this suggestion?

The party as a whole decided to back remain ,For the better of the country.
They've now decided to back the result of the country.
Corbyn backed remain .

Would he have backed leave as a back bencher
He might have .
That's the just of it .

I still believe you'd be on here slagging him off if he wanted another referendum.

Or even wanted to give all people called max free beer for life .😉

This.

If Corbyn was actually as principled and honest as he's made out to be perhaps many more people would have more time for him.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Does this apply in reverse? Theresa May was pro-remain but now leads a government (of sorts) determined to see the "will of the people" through to its natural conclusion.

I don't believe for a minute that Boris believed in Brexit, for example. He's on record as saying the opposite. His own Brexit campaign was founded purely for political self interest and a bid to oust Cameron and take over the reigns.

For sure. I've got as little time for May as I do for Corbyn. Boris isn't even worth the entertainment value any more since he shit out of the leadership battle.

It absolutely applies in reverse. They're all in the main self serving duplicitous chancers. Including corbyn, despite the narrative that he's different and somewhat more of a good principled honest man than the others. It's just not true. His snout is as deep in the trough as the others now.

I doubt Skinner would have been so easily bought to renounce his lifelong Euroscepticism.

Aye - the lifelong anti-EU backbencher did a great job in campaigning to remain in it. Honest.

Corbyn the great can do no wrong in some people's eyes much as the same way he can do no right for others.

The "left" traditionally hate the EU because they see it as an uber capitalist vehicle to further the globalist agenda, the "right" hate the EU cos they see it as a socialist plot to eradicate national borders and diminish national identity. Funny.

And bizarrely, the EU is actually both...

If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--forever.

I'd imagine most centrists see the EU for what it is, a flawed entity but the advantages of membership outweigh the flaws.
