So farewell then... 13:54 - Nov 13 with 753 viewsLeadbelly

For those that remember listening to the football results on a Saturday afternoon rather than just checking your 'phone.

RIP Tim Gudgin

Very sad, though I'm pleased he lived a very full, long and active life.

A bit like the excitement of watching the old videprinter ticky-tacking across the screen when we were playing away, you always got that sense of anticipation waiting to hear whether Mr Gudgin's intonation was going to rise, fall or stay flat when announcing our results.

What was so wonderful was that you only needed to hear the home team's score to know the home team's result (W, L, D). Then, part of the fun when his intonation of the first number suggested a likely away win was trying to guess by how many goals......

So glad he delivered this one two years before his retirement (Flat downward inflection) Norwich City 1 (pause....); Colchester (uplift voice with one raised eyebrow and a chirpy smile), SEVEN.

RIP Tim.

Absolutely missed at around 5.00pm every Saturday. Nobody has even got near his delivery of the scores.

Probaly did not get to see much football due to working on Saturday . One of the most recognized voices in the media . Must have brought heartache to some and joy to many in the country when the football and racing results were read .
Sad news indeed .
