Colchester Youths claim a 2-0 victory over their Crewe counterparts in the FA Youth cup last night at a chilly WHCS . U's started slowly , has in previous rounds, and a glaring miss from the Crewe centre half when he glanced a header wide after ten minutes should had seen the U 's behind . In a hard fought encounter Sims opened the U's scoring with a exquisite shot from the edge of the box into the left hand corner ten minutes before half time .
Crewe did find the net in the second period, although the scorer was judged off side by the lines person , after a cross cum shot had hit the back post . Colchester defended stoutly and got their rewards when a lose ball was picked up by Chilvers in midfield who ran into the box and slotted under the keeper with five minutes to go .
A good team display throughout, a classic display of taking your chances . Need to improve in the first quarter though has like previous rounds they can / could be chasing a game from the start .
Fourth round beckons with a home tie against the MK Franchise in January .

From little acorns ... In the week the young U's beat their D2 counterparts , notice that Plymouth U18 side beat on penalties after a goalless game, none other than spending Man City .
