LEEDS 1 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 2
Wednesday win it with a goal in the 91st minute. Defeat for Leeds means they have taken just six points from Paul Heckingbottom's first eight games in charge and won only one of their last 15 games in all competitions. Just the 2 (Daniel and concordman) predicted a win for Wednesday, and they both got it spot-on. There were 18 who predicted a win for Leeds.
SUNDERLAND 0 PRESTON 2
Preston make it 11 games unbeaten away with this easy win against 10-man Sunderland, who have now gone 10 games without a victory. There was a decent 5 who had this spot-on, and a further 11 got the outcome.
NORTHAMPTON 0 ROTHERHAM 3
Northampton dropped back into the League One relegation zone after suffering a heavy defeat at home to Rotherham. There were 2 who did well to get this spot-on, and 12 more had the outcome.
OXFORD UNITED 2 PETERBOROUGH 1
Oxford get their first win in 6 matches, as Peterborough taste defeat for the first time in 8 games. Nobody had this spot-on, but 4 did get the outcome. There were 15 who predicted a win for Peterborough.
CAMBRIDGE UNITED 1 SWINDON 3
Phil Brown guided Swindon to a win at Cambridge in his first game as manager. Again nobody got this spot-on, though 5 did have the outcome. There were 15 who predicted a win for Cambridge, with 9 going for a 2-1, in what was the weeks most predicted result.
PORT VALE 2 STEVENAGE 2
Vale remain without a win in 2018, but they fought back from two goals down to get a draw. Yet again no 3 pointer for anybody here, but 3 did get the outcome. There were 14 who thought Port Vale would finally get their first win this year.
In what I thought was a tough lot of fixtures this week, it did in fact produce a strongly predicted team in each of the six games. But with only Preston and Rotherham delivering, it was not a good week overall for point scoring. Just one member, wessex_exile, had two 3 pointers, the wins for Preston and Rotherham, and also one outcome, to make him this weeks top scorer with a decent 7 points. The best of those who had one spot-on was concordman, with his 2-1 away wins across the board giving him a very good 6 points.
In the Premier In what was a rare week without a 3 pointer for thrillseeker, there was not too much damage done, as he only had his lead reduced by a point, in a week where 3 pointers were hard to come by in this division. In fact there was just two with mfb_cufc and sevebalo both having the Preston 2-0. With only 18 points achieved in total, there was very little change, though with Gate16 being one of four to fire a blank this week, Sector4 missed a great opportunity to close the gap further in his quest for the great escape.
In Division One Two outcomes were enough to keep durham_exile at the summit, but only by virtue of more 3 pointers than gerry_us, who was another to benefit from having the Preston 2-0 spot-on. Those two now have a useful 7 point cushion in the automatic spots. The biggest gap there has been back to the third all season. With only 48 games left to the season, it is starting to look like any four from five for the play-off spots, though former top Premier League member wessex_exile, helped by his top scoring effort this week, could still have a say in the final outcome. At the bottom Blue4U2 was the other one to have that good Rotherham 3-0 spot-on, and gives him hope of avoiding the wooden spoon.
