Happy League 2017/18 - The Final Tables 18:14 - Apr 28 with 1987 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 38 results

SOUTHAMPTON 2 BOURNEMOUTH 1

Bournemouth have now failed to win any of their 14 trips to Southampton in all competitions. A massive 7 got this spot-on, and another 4 had the outcome.

BURTON 2 BOLTON 0
Burton ensured the battle for survival in the Championship will go to the final day after beating their fellow strugglers. Nobody had this spot-on, but 15 did get the outcome.

NORWICH 2 LEEDS 1
Wes Hoolahan scored on his final home appearance for Norwich as his side came from behind to defeat Leeds. A decent 6 got this spot-on, and 6 more had the outcome.

WOLVES 0 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 0
No shots on target for Wednesday, but they will be pleased with a bore draw. Everybody predicted a win for Wolves, with 10 going for a 2-0, in what was the weeks most predicted result.

OLDHAM 0 DONCASTER 0
Oldham have been a third-tier club for 21 consecutive seasons, but that could come to an end next week, as they have now gone seven games without a win after this bore draw. Nobody got this spot-on, though 7 did have the outcome.

PLYMOUTH 2 ROTHERHAM 1
A 91st minute penalty kept Plymouth's League One play-off hopes alive. That was good news for the 7 who had this spot-on, with a further 11 getting the outcome.

WALSALL 1 NORTHAMPTON 0
Walsall were another team to get a 91st minute winner, as they condemn Northampton to relegation. Again this was good news for the 7 who got this spot-on, and 7 also had the outcome.

COLCHESTER 0 SWINDON 0
An uninspiring bore draw, in what has been an uninspiring season for the U's. Nobody got 3 points for this, and just 3 had the outcome.

LUTON 3 FOREST GREEN 1
Two late goals ensured Luton finished second in League 2. Everybody predicted a win for Luton, with only 2 having it spot-on.

MORECAMBE 0 BARNET 1
Barnet keep their survival hopes alive after this massive win. There were 4 who had this spot-on, and another 5 got the outcome.

What an incredible final week that was. As we approached the final minutes of the season the games were heading for six draws, but in what has been a trend throughout the season, late goals changed all that. Despite still ending with three bore draws, those late winners for Plymouth, Walsall and Luton gave us a seasons high 33 spot-ons, and an overall total of 177 points achieved. The second best points total of the season, only beaten by the 186 in Week 19. With so many 3 pointers it is not surprising there were some decent scores, with current (and now former) Premier champ mfb_cufc leading the way with four, the wins for Southampton, Norwich, Plymouth and Barnet, and with three outcomes is the weeks top scorer with 15 points. But that performance is put in the shade by thrillseeker, as another three 3 pointers, the wins for Southampton, Norwich and Barnet, means with 39 he has created a new 3 pointer record for a season, as he finishes the season with an excellent 12 points. Three spot-ons also for eagledares, the wins for Plymouth, Walsall and Barnet, as he also got an excellent 12 points. Two others to get three 3 pointers were sevebalo, the wins for Southampton, Plymouth and Walsall, and durham_exile, who had the wins for Southampton, Walsall and Luton, as they both got an impressive 11 points.

In the Premier It is congratulations to thrillseeker who sealed a third title in some style, for as well as breaking the 3 pointer record for a season, he also passed the magic 200 total for a season. Probably the first time this has been achieved in the Premier since it was 3 points for a win and no jokers. After holding a 13 point lead at the end of Week 17 noah4x4 had to settle for the runner-up spot, as he struggled to match the champ for 3 pointers. He is joined in the Charity Shield by RSCOSWORTH, who took a big step forward this season, after avoiding relegation the last two seasons by virtue of more 3 pointers both times. A good final week was not quite good enough for mfb_cufc to take his usual place in the Shield, and he has the consolation of having the seasons two highest weekly scores after also getting 16 in Week 19. At the bottom, by equalling his season high score sevebalo made sure he wouldn't be relegated, after being in the Shield last season. A no show from Tropical_Us could have seen him dropping into the final relegation place, in what was a high scoring week, but in the end it was Sector4 who filled that final spot, after his great fightback from an impossible position was all to no avail.

In Division One It is congratulations to eagledares, who is champion after reaching the summit for the first time this season, after equalling his season high score. Great timing for his first season back after a break. He is joined in the Premier by gerry_us, as his solid week ensured he finally made it back to the top flight after a few seasons away. After leading for a number of weeks durham_exile looked like he may also be returning after a spell away, but his decent week was only enough to confirm his play-off place. He is joined there by TheHappyGooner, who will be looking for promotion to go with their Happy Cup win in their first season, BFG who will be looking for an instant return after last seasons relegation, and Daniel who was right back to form after three seasons in the doldrums. The unfortunate one to miss out was concordman, who finished seventh for the second season running. At the bottom, a seasons high score was not enough for Blue4U2 to avoid getting the wooden spoon.

THE TABLES (280 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

This means the Charity Shield semi-finals will be:-

thrillseeker v TheHappyGooner
noah4x4 v RSCOSWORTH

The Division One play-offs semi-finals will be:-

durham_exile v Daniel
TheHappyGooner v BFG

Full details for the Charity Shield and Division One play-offs will be on a separate thread sometime tomorrow.

Massive congratulations to thrillseeker for not just winning but smashing the Premier League title, and to Eagle and Gerry for their well-deserved promotion from Div 1. Good luck to Durham, THG, BFG and Daniel in the PL play-offs, and commiserations in particular to Sector4 for not quite avoiding the drop to join us in Div 1.

Congratulations to the winners of both leagues. Been a lot of fun again but a bit like our U'S I have not really been at the 'ball' this year finding 3 pointers hard to come by.
Massive thank you to mfb for his tremendous in depth commentary all season and for running what must be one of the best prediction leagues.
Good luck to those in the charity shield.

Very happy with a solid 5th place first season back with the elite

Would have finished 4th and above the champion of all champions MFB had it not be for a darn 15 points from him at the death.

Well played Mick and well organised as always

Yes I am.

Considering it was an outlet for when I lived in the Town and what has happened to it.

We had just 5 or 6 players initially

Nick has taken it to a whole new level
