Daggers drawn at Victoria Road 00:47 - Jul 18 with 939 viewsdurham_exile

A touch of reality tonight against Dagenham and Redbridge for the Super U's.

However Luke (Chuck) Norris is still not match fit but otherwise most of the probables and possibles got another run out.

The season approaches fast and Meadow Lane will present some additional headaches for JM team.

We were awful in the first half. Kent, Prosser and Eastman were ponderous and the only outlet was either hoof-ball or Lapslie that passed it sideways/back. Nouble and Mandron were ineffective, only Pell emerged with any credit. Frankly, Barnes would have been sent off in a league match for the deliberate handball. Shocking wall; ordinary free kick. Braintree deserved to score.

Second half much better. The 'kids' that replaced the 'experience' strung passes together and the equaliser was deserved. We probably should have won at the death. Match probably gave McGreal more headaches about his best starting line up than it resolved.

Noah thanks for the update.

A few questions - Is Ryan Clampin a good player

How did Brennan Dickenson play.
Was Ryan Gondoh as impressive as last season.

Given that Norris is still not fit who would you play up front at Meadow Lane. Hopefully two rather than a single isolated striker: Junior and Nouble, Mandron and Norris or some other combination

Is Harry Pell going to be a decent midfield signing.

Will we see a fourth season in Division two or could this lot secure a much needed promotion.

Clampin - if he played I didn't notice.

Dickenson, excellent, but every time he put in a cross we had nobody in the box. He departed before Junior replaced Nouble. Not sure what is the best striker solution, but this was my first game of the season and they have until last night, been scoring freely (are we cursed never to see decent any away performances Durham?).

Gondoh is THE playmaker - was excellent with Collins, Dias Wright and KVY in the last 20 minutes.

Pell, excellent. But was paired with Lapslie who did absolutely nothing creative (but defended well). We didn't see Pell paired with Gondoh, Collins and KVY, which I think is exciting, but can the back three then defend without some midfield protection from a Lapslie?

The bookmakers have been shortening the odds. But the Samaritans were at the Open Day. We probably won't need them, but promotion.....unsure.

Thanks Noah, food for thought regarding the starting XI v Notts County.

Hopefully Norris will be fit by then.
