Derby day success for the real CUFC tomorrow - Up the U's 20:24 - Sep 14 with 1408 viewsdurham_exile

After a well-deserved point at Prenton Park last weekend, JM and his charges entertain Cambridge United in a local derby at the JobServe Community Stadium. They will be looking to keep their good run going against former favourite Joe Dunne’s team, who are currently occupying 19th position in the league with 7 points.

Table top seven:

Lincoln 7 16
Newport 7 16
Exeter 7 13
Carlisle 7 13
COL U 7 12
Mk Dons 6 12
Swindon 7 12

JM has to make a couple of changes. It was absolute lunacy to play Brennan Dickenson last weekend when he was not fit, and he should be rested tomorrow. Luke Prosser meanwhile will be back after his enforced suspension.

Diaz Wright, despite his impressive performance last week, is likely to make way for international star Brandon Comley, fresh from his game on the island of Montserrat.

Something along these lines will therefore do for the Super U’s tomorrow:

Barnes

Eastman Prosser Kent

Jackson Pell Comley Vincent-Young

Szmodics Norris Nouble

Subs:

Ross Wright Gondoh Barnes A Mandron Senior Collins

The weather tomorrow will be cloudy and 19 degrees Celsius. Pitch will be pristine, and the crowd will be decent, swelled by a good number making the short journey from Cambridge.

No place for complacency tomorrow, it is all about the three points.

Enjoy the game.

Good interview with Joe Dunne on the Cambridge United website, where he reflects at length for the last 5 minutes on his time with Col U, with obvious passion and great affection. Hope he gets a great reception today!

Dickenson starts Durham, let's hope he's fully match fit then. Eastman on the bench - otherwise good call on the starting XI.

Senior on for Dickenson. Cambridge United pressing hard, but the U's still very dangerous on the break.

Full time, and 3-0 to the U's in what was at times an even hard game - excellent!

Terrific stuff Wessex and no goals conceded either. Our next three games are all against the other teams in the play off positions so should give us some idea about our genuine worthiness. Up the U's

Superb win - we had a family day in York today so I kept up to date with radio updates.

Looking forward to boundary park next week. Yeovil recorded the result of the day.

I stand by my prediction for automatic promotion and the championship.

Bring on Poorman Road next season.

Football definitely divides opinion

I thought Nouble was good but for me the best players were Pell and Kent.

Thoroughly enjoyed the match

Indeed it does TS - my perspective was via the commentary from 150 miles away, but I'm happy to agree that Pell, Kent, and indeed Barnes, featured prominently during the match!

Flattering - certainly the match ball, and slightly the result .Take your chances when you get the opportunity was the order of the day, has cannot recall vistors keeper making any saves, unlike Barnes who had a busy first half , but kept a welcome clean sheet.
But results against the other top sides has been woeful and the downfall in the previous two seasons, but hopefully this might be addressed with a more robust U's side.
Let's be careful what we wish for, but could a Olde Barn Derby be on the cards next season ?

If a certain team up the road don't start getting some results 'the project' they lauded a few weeks ago be dead in the water.

In relative terms, we are only 4 points and 8 months from parity with Ipswich .

Put another way, if the Tractor Boys maintain their current league position until seasons end with the U's gaining just a single position we will both start 2019-20 In League One. How good is that?
