Week 24 Results

LIVERPOOL 4 CRYSTAL PALACE 3

Mohamed Salah scored twice - including his 50th Premier League goal - as Liverpool survived a scare by coming from behind to defeat Palace in a seven-goal thriller. 26 predicted a win for Liverpool, but not surprisingly nobody got it spot-on.

MANCHESTER UNITED 2 BRIGHTON 1
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the first United manager to win his first six league games in charge as his side held on to beat Brighton. Everybody predicted a win for United, with 3 having it spot-on.

DERBY 2 READING 1
Derby maintained their FA Cup feelgood factor by defeating struggling Reading. There were 4 who got this spot-on, and a further 20 had the outcome, with 15 going for a 2-0, in what was the weeks most predicted score.

MIDDLESBROUGH 1 MILLWALL 1
Middlesbrough get a 90th minute equaliser, the fourth successive goal Millwall had conceded in the final four minutes of matches. Well done to burnsieespana for being the only one to have this spot-on, especially with everybody else predicting a win for Middlesbrough.

CARLISLE 2 CHELTENHAM 0
A fifth straight home win for Carlisle, as they handed new manager Steven Pressley the perfect start. There was a massive 10 who got this spot-on, and another 11 had the outcome.

MK DONS 0 CREWE 1
Crewe recorded just their second away league victory of the season. Well done to basher2010 for being the only one to have this spot-on, and only unitedwhites got the outcome. There were 23 who predicted a win for MK Dons.

So those "easy" fixtures did manage to produce four home wins, and give everybody the inevitable points, but probably not as many as could be expected. In the end any respectability was due to the Carlisle 2-0 giving us more than half of the total 19 spot-ons. Even though the Middlesbrough and MK Dons games failed to get the expected home wins, it was those brave enough to go "against the crowd" and not back them who got their rewards. First there was burnsieespana who had the Derby 2-1 spot-on to go with his tremendous Middlesbrough 1-1 pick, and two outcomes gave him a very decent 8 points. This was only enough for him to share the honour of being the weeks top scorer, as basher2010 also obtained this very decent score by having the Carlisle 2-0 spot-on to go with his superb Crewe 1-0 pick. The other member to get two 3 pointers was thrillseeker who had the wins for Man Utd and Carlisle on his way to a decent 7 points. That points total was also achieved by unitedwhites, who had the Man Utd 2-1 spot-on, as he came out best of those who got one 3 pointer.

Just a reminder. The Happy Cup quarter-final fixtures are now ready for predicting. All details can be found on the separate Happy Cup thread.

In the Premier By having the Carlisle 2-0 spot-on sevebalo increased his lead by a couple of points, as noah4x4 had to make do with four outcomes. Going 2-0 all games enabled RSCOSWORTH to cement his place in the final Charity Shield spot. At the bottom that top scoring effort from burnsieespana moved him out of the relegation zone, at the expense of TheHappyGooner whose 3-0 all games produced four outcomes. It was four outcomes also for gsy163, and that has now left him 9 points from safety.

In Division One By having the Man Utd 2-1 spot-on Sector4 took full advantage of another no show from Colukev to increase his lead to a very decent 15 points. Another to take advantage of this no show was basher2010, and his top scoring performance has only the 3 pointer rule keeping him out of the other automatic spot. The outcomes achieved by medicine_man and blueeagle were enough for them to maintain their play-off spots. They are joined this week by wessex_exile, who continued his terrific second-half of the season with another solid week. Though it is only by the 3 pointer rule, as this competition remains as competitive as ever, with only 3 points separating 4th to 10th. Another to have done well recently is unitedwhites, and another decent week has moved him to within a point of the play-offs. Even though he has more outcomes than anybody in both leagues, a lack of 3 pointers is stopping concordman from making a serious challenge for the play-offs.

THE TABLES (172 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Week 25 Fixtures It is FA Cup 4th Round week, but those fixtures are for the Happy Cup quarter-finals, with this weeks guest unitedwhites picking 10 games from the Football League.
