Could be an interesting signing as has bags of experience. Shame we could not have kept Saunders to do one of these roles but xpect not a surprise to the club and plenty of young coaches around I would think so might be good news medium to longterm.

The interesting thing is all senior coaches have left the academy at the same time, two of them moving into non league football. Perhaps they don't see the potential career path we are told exists...or perhaps they know McGreal has a job for life so time to go!

Club were obviously impressed by Gambin when he scored two goals for Crawley against us last season.
Looked like all us until the sending off for them! Another game we dominated without getting the win or even a point?
Great turn and run from Pell for their sending off - we sure missed him after his injury!
Gambin looks decent in those finishes. Will he play on the left of the three behind the 1 striker or a replacement for Sammie? Similar size and stature as Sammie.

A dreadful game from our point of view, but Gambin was a real handful, and a good signing for us I reckon. I would think he’s more of a Dickenson than a Sammie, and whilst we’re on the subject, £750k (if it’s true) would be substantially more than I was hoping for if the Bristol City deal goes through.
League One rivals Southend and League Two sides Carlisle and Colchester have enquired about former Manchester City winger Isaac Buckley-Ricketts, who now plays for Peterborough, but no bids have yet been received.

LB did you see that Leeds United made an eleventh hour £750K bid but the deal was already done with Bristol City.
Undisclosed fee but lets use the £750K as the starter for ten.
With Gilmartin going there as well, are we going to obtain any released Bristol players I wonder.

Was aware of last minute interest from Leeds. Being brutally honest I’m quite happy he’s gone to Bristol instead. Not the sort of player Leeds need to improve on last season in my opinion. More bite in midfield is required rather than yet more attacking options.
At last, with Szmodics gone two up front becomes a viable option. Credit to the lad for his loyalty and I wish him well. But I won't miss him as (IMHO) he restricted our options, and McGreal would never leave him out or on the bench.

I absolutely agree with you Noah. Szmodics had to play, he was our best player and top scorer, but he's one of those players who isn't quite a striker but isn't a midfielder either. Depending on who we bring in I really think his departure helps to bring a little more balance to the side and, hopefully, a bit more flexibility from McG.

Pretty uninspiring so far, looks like we are bulking up the U23, has most were released end of last season . Wonder how many will gain 50 games in the senior squad . Still looks like squad is light on onion bag fillers .

bwildered sadly our failure to sign a 20 goal per season striker is the reason we are struggling to get out of the basement
