It may well be some spectacular attempt to create interest before the proper kit is released, but clubs would do well not to annoy fans unnecessarily. What will annoy me more is if they’re wearing it tonight and we turn out in pink. Expect further road closures as my toys and dummy litter the surrounding area.

TVOS: Dale v Huddersfield on 14:31 - Jul 18 with 2091 views | TomRAFC | Definite positives, and areas for improvment last night. We played against a strong Huddersfield side, especially as their under 23s were away playing South Shields. Norrington-Davies looked adept and did a good job of finding space. Tavares was impressive when he came on, and certainly seems to have some pace/desire to get in the mix. It was good to see Brad Wade being vocal and martialing the defense, he pulled off a couple of good saves. I hope we aren't going to be playing a system of giving the ball to Big Jim within the 18 yard box everytime the keeper has the ball. A leading centre back should be top of our list. We were also a bit trigger shy infront of goal. The trialist looked nifty, but didn't have enough involvement to tell if he is an absolute must sign. It would certainly be good to see more of him, as he seems to be the kind of wide player we're after.

TVOS: Dale v Huddersfield on 15:09 - Jul 18 with 2044 views | EllDale | Wade did look the part and the delivery for Hendo's goal from Norrington-Davies was a peach of a pass. The puzzling thing for me was that BBM must know the strengths and weaknesses of McNulty and Delaney by now so why insist on faffing about in possession deep in our own half? I thought that we'd stopped the pretence of trying to play that way after Hill left. And if we're going to play Calvin at the back give him 90 minutes to see how he goes on instead of cameo roles. We'll obviously be a lot better with McLaughlin, Rathbone, Bonesy and Wilbraham back but last night showed that there isn't much back-up.

It's strange that even when McNulty doesn't make a mistake he still gets blamed! It was Williams who made the horrendous mistake and yet no mention of that. Other than Jim's nearly mistake, I thought he had a decent game. However, too much playing out from the back is asking for trouble.

My only guess is that we agreed so they could do this Paddy Power publicity stunt, if that is indeed what it was.

There's a huge amount of negativity surrounding gambling. In particular the dreadful effects on families plunged into debt, and gambling addicts suicides. Have we really, knowingly and fiscally, got involved in an underhand PR stunt? Underhand because the Huddersfield shirt sponsorship breaks advertising rules it would seem. Explanation from the club would be more than welcome. Doubt we'll see one.
