I didn't know myself until just now, but if any one is interested you can buy a video pass for the game tonight. Obviously, not exactly news to our overseas brethren...

Guess this will do as the matchday thread?

U's start with Ross, Wiredu, Sowunmi, Kensdale, Clampin, Comley, Chilvers, Cowan-Hall, Brown, Poku, Robinson

Subs Eastman, James, Hasanally, Stevenson, Senior, Nouble, Vose

No Hinds then?

Wessex I didn't do a preview for this game deliberately.

Interesting line up.

Hinds is predominantly to play for the U23's

Lovely worked goal for the U's, with Brown making it happen, eventually a simple tap-in for Paris Cowan-Hall. 1-0

Gillingham equalise from a drilled shot outside the box. Ross got close, but probably about as good as he could have done, it was right in the corner.

Half-time and it remains 1-1. The U's are showing flashes of what they can do, but to be honest the game is being controlled by League 1 Gillingham at the moment, without really carving out too many clear-cut chances.

Update - the stats bear that out, 0 (zero) clear-cut chances for Gillingham, 1 for the U's, but they are dominating possession (67%).

Wessex I know that Southend have loaned Theo Robinson until January but we should sign him up .
He is the type of striker that we want.

Another intricate passing move, great vision from Poku, and PCH makes it 3-1!

Robinson causing them problems all over the place - definitely one to go for Durham, and why on earth would he want to go back to South Essex?

Weirdo cramping up, but no more subs available. Senior drags on past the far post.

Match finishes 3-2 to the U's, four wins in 10 days, and fat f'ck Evans not happy - shame :-)

Bring on the Saddlers

Outstanding results at present.

If we can maintain this consistency it bodes well for the Spurs game.

Have just watched the goals on sky.
Mika Mandron didn't celebrate his goal plenty of respect for that
Good finishes for PCH and Robinson

Colchester playing some really good football at present

Watched bit and pieces of it live on ifollow at work (don't tell the boss).
Good quality goals there from the U's.
Their first was a great strike, but not sure that our defending was all there in the build up!
Good header from Mandron, but again, where was the defending? No one dealt with the deep corner.
Anyone know why Sowunmi was subbed off? He looked a bit dodgy to me with a couple of mistakes - is he coming back from injury, get injured or subbed due to poor performance? If it is the latter, then that is worrying after hearing him have a bad day at the office vs Ips in the friendly.
Good to see our fringe players put in a good performance though and result to match!
Roll on the weekend and another 3 points......... please :-)

Was at the game. Good performance by all the newcomers. But....

Yet again, Sowumi was like Bambi on ice. At 3-1 we were being overwhelmed. John McGreal rightfully brought on Eastman to restore order. Tom couldn't stop their second as he was clattered into the post and briefly looked concussed. Frankly, few in the ground thought we would avoid conceding a third, but we did. The new loanee Charlton midfielder played at full-back and did well, but we always looked desperate, decent work by Ross and last minute interventions etc.The Gills were a decent side.

I was impressed with the sheer pace of Robinson, Poku and Brown. McGreal's system n attack actually worked better without the lumbering Norris (or his predecessors like Porter/Mandron)). We were conspicuously physically weaker though, but our regular back four should resolve that. For the Gills, Mandron was AWOL for most of the game, but had a purple patch. But we clung on and it was a satisfying result given the changes. But might we be fined £5,000 for making 10 changes? I thought we had to pay four of our last starting XI?

Noah the rules are:

We must play 4 players in the starting line up who:
Started last game
Starts the next game
In the list of 10 outfield players to have started the most games this season
40 or more appearances in their career
On loan from a premier league club

The fine for not meeting the criteria is £5K
