A Pub Reopens !! 16:16 - Sep 22 with 3540 viewscolinallcars

The Black Bull just opposite Bull Gate, Ravenscourt Park to reopen after 8 years.
I have to say that must be the only pub in the 'Smith that I haven't been in.
Apparently locals up in arms about it.
Anyone been there ?

Locals are up in arms about a pub re-opening?

This world is nearing the end.

Best of luck to whoever is behind it and I wish them every success.

There has to be a market out there where a decent boozer can charge 'Spoons prices, be busy with good t/over which in the pub game = good profit.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

The Hammersmith Newsletter from whence I got the info, says residents are worried about noisy late night smokers outside and daytime drinkers being a menace to schoolchildren.
Perhaps it had a bad reputation but I can't think of a pub in Hammersmith that would pose such a threat.

I haven’t been there. It looks like a classic flat roof pub and I can’t imagine why anyone would want to go there when there are so many better options in Hammersmith. Maybe they plan a big refurbishment, but frankly I was amazed that anyone thinks reopening it is a commercial proposition. I am an occasional Spoons customer so I don’t think this is just me being a pub snob.

I hear ya Mikey. Looked set on the road to extended decay. For the location coundnt see a shop opening there. And never imagined somone would redo a pub.

Not to derail but one of my locals, the Dartmouth (bit pricey but good for food and a few with the missus, and the manager is massive QPR) has had the street extentions pulled in. Haven't been there in a while and hoping it's not closing, anyone heard anything?

Nice, walked past it so many times and wondered what it was like inside. Looked quite at odds with most of the other pubs in Hammersmith.

There are any number of really good pubs 5 or 10 minutes walk from the Bull. Prisoner of War, Raven, Cross Keys, the Thatched House.
I won't be visiting the Bull.

Another new pub (replacing the Brewdog) on Goldhawk road. The bush tavern.

I must be slipping ! Didn't know about this, so looked it up.
It says they also have The Hawk's nest, five minutes away. I don't know that either…

Aha. Used to be the Ravensworth arms. Drank in there quite a lot. Was the polar opposite yo a gastro pub and was small but had a a nice pool table there. Think local post station made up a lot of it's clientele. Was a serviceable pub. Set back from the main road and always felt a bit geographically isolated even though it was not.

If you’re lucky…

The Thatched House should be a good pub, but the staff seem gormless. I saw one pouring gravy on a customer from a roast dinner while he tried to remember who to give it to.
