Jamie McDonnell 21:25 - Apr 25 with 492 views | McDonnellEnthusiast | Hi all, Forest fan who enjoys following our youngsters, particularly those out on loan. How has McDonnell been getting on? He's a favourite of mine for his competitive nature. Still unclear where his ceiling is, but absolutely one destined for a pro-career. Hoping you get promoted so it's a seamless loan back to yourselves next season in the league above...

Thanks! How bad is his injury, will be he back for a Play-Off challenge? I think he'll likely get another loan, but with him being 21 and needing to be registered, he'll have to have a very big season next year to get near our squad sadly. Thanks again and fingers crossed we nab a top 5 place. Albeit i'd give it up if it meant winning the FA Cup, nice to possibly be a CL side, but the memories of a cup win would do more for me, personally.

100% take the cup win. No one will remember who qualified for the (non) Champions League in five years time but a cup win stays forever. It's history. With regards McDonnell he has been excellent for us, apart from the number of bookings, and if he's not available for the next two games he'll be a massive miss. I did see a recent video on YouTube where McDonnell was mentioned and they said he'd need to improve other areas of his game to play at a higher level. They described him as a ball retriever and recycler which I think is a pretty accurate description of how he plays right now. He's obviously still very young though and I expect him to get better, which he will need to do if he wants to play at a higher level. Whatever happens from here I'll be keeping an eye on his future career and wishing him well.

Course let’s not forget he is on the books of a PL club that broke the fair play rules and hence unlikely to feature in the first team.

That says it all. He’s a rare talent and we know we won’t have him next season, but he has an incredibly bright future ahead of him. Don’t f’ck it up like Luton did with Joe Taylor!
