U's v Grimsby thread 21:06 - Mar 26 with 1856 views | wessex_exile | Apologies Durham for the preemptive strike, but this really needs to be broadcasted as soon as possible. With still two days to go, the South Stand is completely sold out, and E5 through to E8, and W3 and W4 as well, are already close to a sell-out. If you haven't got your ticket, book as soon as possible! Incredible support already, and with Grimsby reportedly bringing in the region of 500+ (according to their predictions) it looks like it's going to be a bumper crowd for the Friday night game. Our best ever at the JobServe for a Friday night league game was 5,461 for John McGreal's March 2018 2-1 win over Luton Town. We look like we'll be challenging that on Friday.

With E4 and W6 now approaching sell-out, I reckon you're right, in fact it looks a nailed on certainty now. Excluding Good Friday afternoon games, I make it just eight Friday night league games in nearly 17 years at the Jobserve, and one of those was during lockdown. Since we returned to League 2 it's only three (including the lockdown game). 29/01/2021 - Scunthorpe United (lost 1-0, the lockdown game) 26/11/2021 - Newport (drew 1-1) 22/12/2023 - Salford (won 2-1) [Post edited 27 Mar 16:45]

I looked back and I think the 2-1 win over Bournemouth back in 2011 has been my only Friday night game at the JCS. If not it's certainly the only one I remember. W4 and W6 now sold out. Limited tickets in E4 to E8 and W2 to W3. Probably less than 150. Wonder if the turnstile in the South stand has been repaired yet.

Unless I'm thinking about somewhere else, didn't someone drive into it over Christmas, or at least it looked that way? Given the council owns the ground, are we waiting for them to pull their finger out?

That's what it looked like - a bit of a partial demolition job.

Macey has kept us in the game up to now But it's been a disjointed, mistake strewn effort against a far more composed side so far Durham.

Not really Flanagan's fault, he was undone by a massive bobble from our shocking pitch which bounced up and hit him on the knee. Not quite a Blackburn moment, but the end result was the same. At least we only have three more games to go playing on it before nature takes control and allows some grass to grow, but it's still cutting up really badly - even the referee had to replace a divot at one point. As for the game, I thought that was for the most part a reasonably entertaining match, but honestly Grimsby edged it. Still 21 points to play for though.

I know I am unwell but I am angry about this result. Flanagan scored a perfectly good goal.which was incorrectly disallowed and then we conceded at a critical time. This result hurts more than the Bradford one. We need Samson back and Teddy in midfield. Some of the players look tired perhaps the effort over the 13 unbeaten games has taken a lot out of them Up the U's

I think McDonnell might have got a slight touch for Flanagan's goal, even though it was probably going in, and he looked offside? Heyho, let's see how tomorrow's results turn out, and we go again at the Priestfield. Up the U's!
