This is an excellent point as you've highlighted in a nutshell there's a big difference between what is in the best interests of individual players and the playing squad as a whole over both the short-term (next couple of games) and longer-term this season and the next. Edwards and Morrison is almost an ideal problem to have for me. In Morrison we've made a long-term signing that aligns with our supposed model of identifying potential value to develop, improving the squad, results and the player and ultimately to sell at a handsome profit to reinvest. Until he got injured, Morrison looked to be ticking a lot of boxes for me and it's no coincidence we look steadier at the back when he's playing. But injured he did get and we needed to move quickly to replace him with someone who a) is at least as good or better and b) fits into the squad and isn't an academy wànker. Edwards seems to be both and has the added benefit of a jawline that is making many of us mildly curious in ways we never considered before this age of sheer wokery. What's best for Morrison (or at least what I'd imagine he wants personally) is to play every game he's fit to play. What's best for the playing squad in the short-term (results) is to play the best players you have in every single position and that's Edwards at the moment in one of those positions. What's best for everyone long(er)-term is if Morrison can develop the areas of his game that Edwards is currently better at (jawline notwithstanding). Ultimately, I want to see clubs like Southampton trying to buy players like Morrison from us, much like we should have done with Edwards while he was at Barnet. I'm really not understanding why anyone thinks playing one over the other based on where we might or might not finish is a good idea for anyone. |

Ahh sorry to hear this. Saw him in the Loft a lot and had mutual friends. Some of the shìt he had to hear when Les was coming through fùcking embarrassed me. |

He's playing more like Sandi Toksvig at the moment. [Post edited 6 Feb 6:23]

There were a lot of people saying the same thing when we sold Darnell Furlong to West Brom. "£1.5m? I'll drive him there myself" - 5 managers have used 7 different players at right back since then and we're now reliant on a centre back by trade to play there. It's not as easy as just 'get a replacement" |

Sounds like the good people of Hull have attended the LoftForWords school of civil engineering - when faced with any construction challenge: dig down. Like watching "Wish You Were Here" if Judith Chalmers was restricted to shìt football stadiums and battered on export-strength lager. |

Not a bad thing if it's showing a profit, or can be seen to be showing a profit as the Pozzos have demonstrated with Watford and Udinese. Or as everyone else calls it "robbing Peter to pay Paul." |

Ah the Grifter, chariot of mine youth! Weren't they made from the same shìt they make soviet submarine hulls out of? I'm pretty sure NASA fired one into the sun in the 80s to see what would happen and apart from some superficial hairline cracks to the saddle, it's still trundling away somewhere in the region of Andromeda. I just looked up Raleigh Choppers for a laugh and they're going for between two and three THOUSAND quid these days |

Did anyone ever find out what happened to make Impey flip? There must have been previous between them or something must have been said/done off the ball because he put some welly behind that punch. Joey "Poundland Hardman" Barton should take note - if you're getting sent off, that's how you do it. |

Glossary Klaxon Awwooogah Awwooogah For everyone who says they were inline with that volley, Loftus Road would have had to be T-shaped with row Z of the South Africa road stand backing onto the Westway. That said, I was in C block. |

It must have happened but I can't remember a single time a ref has done anything apart from walk over, have a stern word, signal for the corner to be taken, have another stern word, watch the striker get suplexed into the ground and award a free-kick to the keeper. |

Amen to this. My eldest is U15, plays for two different teams (5-a-side and 11-a-side) and the leagues are packed with players who are show over substance. I'm not saying let's go back to Beck but there's got to be some end product - doing rabonas at any level of football is a slappable offence. Seeing Ashby pinging passes around with the outside of his boot (usually into touch/to the oppo) triggered me earlier this season. When I see kids I coach giving away possesion doing that I ask them to walk me through their thinking and once you strip away the bollòcks about "KDB lookz sick when he does it" you find that 9 times out of 10 they play it because their body positioning is wrong and they don't trust their weaker foot. |

We have to want to get promoted. Otherwise, why bother? As regards the step up in quality, I can deal with losing if we're trying but when the players can't be fùcked, why should I? The draw at Reading that relegated us the first time around was total rock bottom for me. Even the Sky commentary had the grace to apologise for the shìt we served up and the utterly laissez-faire way in which we did it. "Relegated you say? Oh well..." Be competitive (even more so in London derbies and double that in West London derbies) and I'll be happy. Bank the cash, improve the squad incrementally (ban contract from "super" agents), rinse and repeat. |

The scouts carry a promotional film with them that features Raheem Sterling, Kieran Morgan’s parents, the parents of a kid who didn’t make it but had a positive experience, to show potential recruits. Good to see Sean Wright-Phillips still contributing to the club. |

Lommel (his parent club) are in the Belgian 2nd tier and it looks like they were going bust until CFG (the holding company that owns Man Citeh) bought a majority stake shortly before he was signed. It could be that they signed him while flush and he's too good for that league. That said, he's played 2 seasons in the Eredivisie and is still contracted to Lommel so...who knows? I like him and think he adds to the squad but not a starter unless we hit another patch of biblical injuries. Looks pretty risk-free for us so keep him if there's financial headroom and we can't get anyone we know (categorically) will be better. |

I was thinking about the commonalities between them both myself. Way, way too early to be putting that kind of expectation on Morgan but as mentioned above, he's definitely got the ability, is demonstrating a good work ethic and seems like a decent lad. Interesting how some kids released by youth setups at clubs like Arsenal or Spurs realise their next move might be their last in professional football and get their head down and learn their trade. Also interesting how many don't - might be my bias but it seems like a lot of Chelsea academy products seem to think it's all a bit beneath them... |

Cook will be on good money. We paid a fee to Forest for him and they in turn signed him when they were doing that "sign all the players" thing. Whatever they were paying him couldn't have been too shabby as it allowed him to buy his own football club https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61906955 |
