Early kick-off, Christmas stuff etc etc Contrary to wild defamatory rumours, I am unlikely to see the Strictly final and am intending to be at a hostelry with an SO postcode just after 10.00am. |

I know a few ST holders who are giving it a miss, so there will still be quite a few empty seats. |

I presumed that a week before the game they would be embarking on a 7-day cruise from Southampton via the Med and arriving at Portsmouth on the morning of the game. |

The P & O cruiser mob will be well up for a 12.30pm kick-off on a chilly Saturday lunchtime in Stoke, yes? |

Thing is, how is it being policed that the seats which (assuming it is them) P & O have access to are for the exclusive use of Saints fans? I am fully aware that cruise customers are not your typical football hooligan, but is there not a hypothetical scenario here whereby some of these tickets could get in the wrong hands, and then a situation requiring dibble input ensues? |

I'm sure Mr. Parsons will be happy to go into detail at the next Fans' Forum about how much P & O Cruises are paying for this privilege..... |

It's a block of seats we keep by for all the managers we have sacked in the last 10 years. |

It's football in a nutshell. Who actually enjoys watching the games? We are generally nervous wrecks in the ground, angry and snarling, with very little positivity around. Or maybe it's just me...... |

The more people who post on here, the better. Makes it a more interesting place. We often disagree, but hope to see you back here soon. |

I was in a group of 6 Saints fans in Berlin last year for the Euros final. The day before the game, we were sat in a bar next to a group of 8 or 9 Skates fans at the next table. All was amicable. I suspect for England home games it would be quite a bit less friendly. |

At least with your caps entitlement, you should get CAT 3 tickets, mate. Fair play to you. |

It does make me worry about the Fratton game, as the template of how to beat us is essentially the way Portsmouth play. |

The first World Cup I went to was France in 1998. My first game was one I won't forget; England v Tunisia in Marseille. I suspect a fair few on here will know fellow Saints / Eastleigh fans Clive Foley and Pete Tait. We took my car on a ferry from Skatesmouth to Le Havre, and I drove Clive and Pete to Marseille, a heck of a drive. The game was on a Monday lunchtime. We arrived in Marseille on the Saturday afternoon, with no digs booked (don't think Skyscanner or Expedia were around in those days...) and just as general chaos was descending on Marseille, with 30,000 England fans there and a lively bunch of Algerians, Moroccans and Tunisians waiting for us. My first experience of tear gas, and being offered money by a tabloid photographer to lob a bottle at some north Africans at the old port (he was told to go forth). I remember it being quite big news back home at the time. One of the other guys we travelled with (not a Saints fan) rang his missus on the Sunday and she demanded he come home straight away. He obviously ignored her. The game almost seemed an irrelevance, but we won 2-0 on a pretty hot day in a great atmosphere. I got the England bug that weekend. Have since been to World Cups in Russia and Qatar. Not sure what I am doing next year, but strongly inclined to give it the swerve. [Post edited 14 Dec 10:57]

My Dad used to work with Tony Funnell when he moved to the Poole area. I blame Mick Channon's windmill celebration when I was a young kid watching The Big Match on ITV. That did it for me. |

Seems to have done quite a lot of press stuff over the last couple of days. A two-page article in today's Echo, and he has separately spoken to Solent. Strange how he doesn't seem to do this stuff after a few defeats....... Rene House from the Echo had been trying to speak with him for weeks when things weren't going so well, and Spors was mysteriously unavailable. |

He gets sent off about 10 times a year. At least Jack Stephens’ wages when he’s banned aren’t quite so financially wounding. |
