It has been revealed that Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion have agreed terms for making Leon Barnett a permanent member of Paul Lambert's squad.

This site revealed that Roberto di Matteo was probably looking to sell City favourite, Leon Barnett, and is now delighted to report that the popular player is now officially a City fixture. Well, at least he will be when the January transfer window opens.

The 25 year old has impressed both coaching staff and supporters in his 17 appearances so far since his arrival in August as emergency cover when Michael Nelson joined the injury list that included fellow centre back, Zak Whitbread.

Since then a firm partnership has developed between Barnett and Elliot Ward, and talk of extending his loan if unable to sign him has been top of the transfer talk as the winter sales approach.

Barnett started on his football career in hhis home town at the Youth Academy in Luton, where he was born on 30 November, 1985,

At first, unabke to break into Luton;s first team, he went out on loan to Aylesbury, returning to the Luton first team for the 2006-07 season in the Championship, winning Luton;s Player of the Season on the way.

Luton went into nosedive as Barnett was sold to West Brom where Barnett had a taste of Premiership football. Later loaned out to Coventry, it wan't much longer until Barnett arrived at Carrow Road.

As well as supporters and coaching staff declaring their interest in making Barnett a permanent player, Leon himself had also stated his desire to stay at Norwich.

Welcome to Norwich, Leon, and Happy Christmas.
