Saints need to capitalise on a weekend of good results when they travel to Hartlepool on Tuesday night.

Saints saw most of the results go their way on Saturday as they missed a game through the postponement of the trip to Rochdale, this put the automatic promotion spot firmy back in their sights as long as they win their games in hand.

Its another big night on Tuesday and Saints have to win at Hartlepool to really start to put the pressure on their rivals, all of whom are also in midweek action, Brighton look to have a home banker against Plymouth who hving announced administration and been docked 10 points no seem doomed being 10 points off safety and our only hope seems to be a rallying performane from Argyle but I wouldnt hold out much hope, another home banker looks to be Bournemouth V Sheff Weds, but after a run of straight defeats surely Wednesday cant lose another, at least thats our hope, but after this game the Cherries will hve played 17 of their 23 home games and only 15 away and for  side relying on home form, that could be the turning point n the season.

Dagenham & Redbridge also host Huddersfield and thats another game that hopefully the Terriers wont fancy, like Bournemouth their away form is hit and miss and its mainly the home results that keep them up in the top echelons, any points dropped on the road have to be good for Saints.

But fact of the matter is its all in Saints hands and nows the time to put the stop starts behind us and finally start playing to the standards we really should be, that means grinding out results week in week out, not slaughtering sides at home and then struggling on the road, something we have done far too often, not due to being outplayed but due to individual errors which eed to be eradicted now.

This is Pools third home game in a row, in the first they showed what tey can do by beating Chalton, then on Saturday they went down 1-0 to MK Dons, showing that perhaps they like us can at times play good football, but too often throw games away, at home they have on six and lost five of their fourteen games played so far, so its far from an inpenetratable fortress.

Its going to be a gme though where Saints have to be strong from the start, its going to be a cold wet night and not one for the faint hearted, we have to be clinical both in defence and ttack, too often we hve needed a lot of chances to score a goal, but ot too many against us to let one in, that has to change.

By Wednesday morning the promtion race could be starting to swing in Saints favour, its in our hands, if we want promotion we have to prove it

SeafordSaint added 19:50 - Feb 21 Nick, I agree. If we are truly serious about being automatic promotion contenders then we must go to Hartlepool confident of being victorious tomorrow night. My concern is which Saints team will turn up; will it be the team that turned up at Oldham away or the one that turned up at Tranmere away? Personally I don't want to see Saints go up as runners up; I want us to go up as Champions playing other teams off the park with an arrogance and a swagger. With the resources at our disposal this should be our aim. Win tomorrow evening and this aim may start to become a reality but the players have to cut out the school boy errors and really believe they can do this. Spot51 added 12:16 - Feb 22 I'm puzzled as to why Sheffield Wednesday have been so shite this season. On paper they have one of the better squads in this league, yet on the Park they've been mostly dreadful. Surely that has to change sometime. Ideally tonight.
