Saints got a great boost ahead of their trip to Charlton Athletic

The result that all Saints fans hoped for came to fruition when MK Dons beat Peterborough 1-0 in a pulsating game that was full of end to end action, in truth it could of been 3-2 to either side, but MK Dons capitalised on a goalkeeping error to score the games only goal.

Saints now know that if they win at the Valley then they go into second place on goal difference from Huddersfield, but with two games in hand on the Yorkshire club and also two points ahead of Peterborough with a game in hand, for their part MK Dons leapfrogged Bournemouth to join us on 64 although the Cherries have a game in hand on them, our near neighbours themselves have their eyes over their shoulders if Orient should win at least one of the two games in hand they have over them.

But more importantly it now gives Saints focus, they know what they have to do on Tuesday night, a win puts enormous pressure on on Huddersfield and Posh and even a point will still leave Saints in the driving seat.

But first we have to despatch the Addicks which despite their recent poor form wont be easy and we will have to be at our best, the result at Stadium MK should be enough motivation for the Saints players, after months of chasing and being out of reach the pendulum is starting to swing and its putting things into our hands, we have snatched back the impetus at the business end of the season we have to make sure we dont hand it back tamely.

Second is indeed in sight tomorrow night but how come we dont play again after that for another week and a half (april 2nd), whilst our rivals do, and have a good chance of putting that gap back in place. Frustrating.

Second would be good but only because it means we are 3 points nearer our goal.
Keep gathering points as we have in recent weeks and the rest can only watch.

Whether or not we are sat 2nd in the table in the Sunday papers on May 8th is the only thing that matters now.

"It now gives saints focus". Feck me you couldn't make up this sh7te. You don't think they may have had focus before. The only ones not focused are dipsh7t fans like you who always see the negative and would be happy for the saints to fail so you can carry on your agenda of slagging off the club.

Bit harsh there Eusebio. Can't imagine for one moment any Saints fan would want to see us fail. Plus Nick has a point we've been in this situation before this season when the impetus to push on hasn't come to fruition.

I'm still amazed that the MK Dons beat Peterborough who literally camped in and around their penalty area for the first half. They made woeful errors errors at the back and failed to finish off the game when chances came late in the game. Saints will have to view their home fixture against MK Dons as 3 points based on that show. A win tonight would be a double blow for PB. A bit like that week we lost to Walsall..
