Dale seeded for League Cup draw in historic season Wednesday, 15th Jun 2011 18:53 by Col The draw for the first round of the League Cup will take place on Thursday morning, with Dale amongst the seeded teams for the first time in what will be the 50th anniversary of our League Cup final appearance. The results of the draw will be made public at 10am on Thursday morning, and for the first time, Dale will be considered to be one of the big boys in the draw following our top half finish in League One last season. Due to the seeding, Dale are guaranteed to be playing one of the unseeded teams (naturally), so we know that our opponents will come from Accrington, Bradford, Burton, Bury, Chesterfield, Crewe, Hartlepool, Macclesfield, Morecambe, Notts County, Oldham, Port Vale, Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday, Shrewsbury, Tranmere, Walsall - two of whom have been our seeded opponents in recent years. This season sees the 50th anniversary of the time that Dale made it to the final of the League Cup. Back in 1961-62 season, we got beat over two legs 4-0 by Norwich. Could a repeat be on the cards this season? Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
