The U's and Town played out about 80 minutes of a goalless draw tonight at United Way in a game which was abandoned due to a nasty injury to Andy Bond.

Both teams put out relatively strong line-ups, but neither were able to break the deadlock, with Wordsworth forcing the only save of the game in the second half, with a strong header from a corner.

The U's played much of the game without an out and out striker - Kayode Odejayi started the game upfront, but went missing for nearly 20 minutes due to a head wound, and was later subbed off at half time, with Ashley Vincent coming on in his place.

The game was abandoned when a mix up on the edge of the U's box saw Mark Cousins and Bond clash heads, the latter was taken to hospital, but was able to walk assisted to an ambulance at the side of the pitch.

On behalf of our visitors we send Bondy our best wishes and hope he has a quick recovery.

U's: Cousins, White (Duguid), Okuonghae, Heath (Baldwin), Rose, Izzet (Bond), James, Henderson, O'Toole, Wordsworth, Odejayi (Vincent).

Attendance: 6268
