Clough Sure £1.7 Million Borrowed Blue Will Be
Clough Sure £1.7 Million Borrowed Blue Will Be "A Hit" For Rams!

Derby County has confirmed the signing of Ipswich striker Tamás Priskin on loan until January. The Hungarian international has been languishing in the reserves for Town and hopes a change of scenery will reignite his career.

Priskin was a surprise omission from the Ipswich reserves fixture earlier this week and it turns out negotiations were underway for his switch to Pride Park. The deal will run for the rest of this year with a view to a permanent deal in January if the loan move is successful.

The former Watford man, whose contract is up at the end of the season, has spent much of his career with the Blues away from Portman Road having previously been on loan at QPR and Swansea City.

Priskin has only made one appearance for the Blues this season in the 3-2 defeat to Doncaster prior to the international break, before being left out of the 16 for the trip to Forest last Saturday.

Ipswich signed the 25-year-old for £1.7 million from the Hornets in the summer of 2009 after what was to date was his most prolific season of English football. During the 08/09 season he scored 14 goals in a total of 41 appearances for Watford in the Championship.

During that season he famously scored the winning goal in last season's Carling Cup semi-final first leg victory over Arsenal.

After a high priced move, he was never really able to establish himself with the Blues. In between his loan spells, the 6ft 1in tall front man has made 35 starts and 24 sub appearances, scoring nine goals for Town.

The player has long shown a mix of talent and potential but at 25 years of age the time is now if he is ever going to consistently deliver on it.

The move to Ipswich has never really worked for the player during a time when little has really worked for the Blues either. The Rams have had similar struggles to Town but having fallen out of favour under Paul Jewell, the Hungarian will be hoping he can recapture the form which led to his big money move two years ago.

Nigel Clough was happy to capture an international striker in his hunt for goals:

“To get a striker in on loan of Tamas' pedigree is a massive boost for us and we're delighted to have him here. There aren't too many current internationals available for loan at the moment and Tamas will be a very good addition to the squad.”

"I am sure he will be a hit here. Tamas has proved in the past, especially at Watford, he is capable of scoring goals at this level.”

All Rams fans will be wishing the player luck and hoping that his arrival will bring with it a change of fortune for Derby along with some goals for a depleted forward line.
