By Slinky Easily Readings most consistent player in recent games, Phil Parkinson, a bargain £37,500 signing from Bury in 1992, has been a regular in the Reading side for the majority of the season . Despite the many changes of personnel and formation to Readings midfield, Parky is possibly the first name on the team sheet week in, week out. He is a strong midfielder, who is not easily shoved off the ball. Although passing is not Parkys strongest point, he has greatly improved this area of his game, and rarely gives the ball away, but having said that if he ever loses the ball you know he will try his best to win it back. He may be at the wrong end of his playing career but he still plays every game with 110% effort and passion. Parky loves Reading and Reading loves Parky, that's why he gives so much to games. If every other player could give the same, we would not be in Division 2!! Not only is the hardest player Reading have had since the days of Terry Hurlock and Billy Whitehurst, but he occasionally scores goals to!! So far this season he has notched up a commendable 4 goals and as yet,he hasn't been sent off… |
