Addison Denies Reports Of Ultimatums

Home >Story Index> Addison Denies Ultimatium

In a press release from the club, Addison said " We've all read and heard what's been said, but let's be honest, no-one has issued ultimatiums or demanded anything. 'Back us or sack us' is just newspaper headlines, nothing more than that. " What we are concerned about is that we are out of contract at the end of the season, and we do need to know our position, so that we are able to plan for next season. " The number of players whose contracts are due to expire is in double figures, and we are having them knocking on the office door every day, asking what the position is. That's understandable, as they want to know what's going to happen to them, but we are unable to answer their questions, as we don't know what's happening to us. " There is a lot of work to be done before next season get's underway, and we just want the go ahead to start planning for the future. If we don't start that work soon, the Club could be left in a situation where there is only a handful of players left."
The quotes from Peter Nicholas first appeared over the weekend on the BBC web-sites and were then reproduced in the Welsh Mirror today under the headline "Back us or sack us"
Addison went on to tell the official site " Press speculation over the weekend has not helped the situation. At no time have either myself or Peter Nicholas issued a 'Back us or sack us' ultimatum. It's not our style to issue threats, we have been in the game too long for that sort of approach.

"We had a long discussion regarding our position, with our contracts expiring at the end August.

" The meeting was at our request, as we are keen to plan for next season, and start dealing with the players who are out of contract in June, as well as looking at team strengthening. The new owners have now been in place for five weeks, and we feel that the time is right for us to ask the question.

" The discussions were very frank, and Huw assured us that there is a full committee meeting planned for later this week, including Brian Katzen, who is due to arrive from the USA in time for the Hull City match, where the matter will be discussed in full.

" I have advised the Directors that we would appreciate an answer as to their intentions in the near future."

Now you have both sides of the story as reported in other media outlets which I must remind everyone is another part of the web-sites for the fans, to report to you what is being said about YOUR football club.
