Ricketts was signed on a free from non league Telford, by Jackett in 2004. Sam can play at left or right back as well as the left midfield or central defence. Ricketts had a very good first season with the Swans and only missed 4 games last season.
Despite being English, Ricketts earned a Welsh call up by new Wales manager John Toshack and Sam made his Welsh debut against Hungary. Sam then made two more appearances in the World Cup Qualifiers against Austria.
At the present time, Ricketts has had a new contract offered to him and hopefully he will sign as he is a vital player in Jackett's team. Ricketts is still waiting for his first League goal for Swansea - his only goal came in an LDV Trophy win over Luton last season - The Welsh International will be looking to get on the score sheet more often this coming season.
