Martinez: Bodde Can Be Proud Of His Achievements

Roberto Martinez has told Feirrie Bodde he can be proud of his achievements this season.

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez has urged his players to bounce back from the 3-2 loss against Birmingham City last week and show their character and determination starting with a tough trip to face Coventry City tomorrow evening.

Martinez may have seen his side lose the game against the former premiership club but the loss of Dutch maestro Ferrie Bodde for the rest of the season through cruciate ligaments and torn cartilage damage, is a bitter pill to swallow for the Liberty Stadium club. However the Spaniard is refusing to let the loss of such a highly influential player get to the rest of the squad and has rallied his troops to go on and show their qualities on the pitch as he told the SWEP, “We will miss him, but we have talked enough about the squad and players who have been waiting for their opportunity and now they must show they are ready."

That has not stopped Martinez praising Bodde for his contribution to the cause and has predicted that the former Ado Den Haag man will come back fitter and stronger for his injury lay off, he said "It is extremely disappointing because he can be extremely proud of what he has achieved in his first season at this level and I think he's shown what a quality footballer he is"

"But I have no doubt he will come back from this stronger, more mature and ready for a new challenge. He can use the time to improve in other areas and we will see a better player on his return.Ferrie is devastated and it is not good news for us with the form he is in. Ferrie is an important player for us and we rely on his distribution with the way we play.”
