Doncaster Rovers confirm that the fA are investigating two incidents from last Saturday's game

At times the game was bad tempered and Leon Britton claimed afterwards that he was spat at by Richie Wellens as James Coppinger was treated for an injury just before half time.

Wellens was later sent off in an unrelated event but the bad after feeling has continued since the game and today's statement on the Doncaster web site read as follows

"Doncaster Rovers Football Club can confirm that the Football Association is investigating two incidents which occurred during the Coca-Cola Championship fixture against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday 21st February 2009.

Doncaster Rovers can also confirm that one of the incidents is the alleged spitting by Rovers midfielder Richie Wellens. Doncaster Rovers Football Club will be defending Richie vigorously in the matter of these unfounded accusations. Doncaster Rovers are 100% behind Richie Wellens and will do everything in our power to ensure that he is proved innocent.

Doncaster Rovers also understand that the Football Association are looking into a second incident, which occurred at the same time as the above mentioned incident, but does not implicate Richie."

The second incident is rumoured to involve Angel Rangel
