Brendan Rodgers says that going second in the league is a big incentive for the Swans tonight

Swansea City could take their highest position for 27 years should they beat Millwall at the Liberty this evening and Rodgers says that his side are not afraid to take on the pressure that comes with being in the automatic promotion spaces.

Moving above rivals Cardiff City is the reward as well for a win tonight, something that Brendan knows will keep the supporters happy at least until tomorrow.

“It’s a big incentive for us. Swansea have a great history so it’s important for the players to keep creating history." he told the Evening Post

“It’s important for us to concentrate on picking up the three points. People look at the permutations of getting the three points, when it’s just important to do the job.

“But there is absolutely no doubt it will give us a psychological boost to move into the top two and put a marker down.

“Once you go into the top two, you move into a different zone and different mindset. It’s a different position and different pressures come with that.

“But we enjoy the pressure. We enjoy our work and winning will enable us to take the next step.

“I know it will be important for our supporters to go above Cardiff and I don’t underestimate that, but we just want to keep moving forward.

“And I’m not afraid to look at the table.

“I don’t get as emotional as directors and supporters possibly do where they see every move as a massive turning point.

“But we are up there anyway because of the nature of the way we play and the way the team has progressed.

“Teams are coming to Liberty Stadium and it’s fantastic for them to come and get a draw.

“Home games are becoming more difficult. We have to play as though we are a big team.”
