Aidy Boothroyd believes his side were denied a certain penalty in their defeat to Swansea

The Coventry City manager referred to what he thought was a foul by Swansea City goalkeeper Dorus De Vries early in the second half of Tuesday's game that was eventually settled by a Stephen Dobbie strike.

"What you say after a result like that is that you look at the performance tonight, our last result and the perfomance of that and say we are not that far away, really really not," he told the official Coventry website.

"We've dominated the game for long periods against the second best team in the Championship. We limited them to a couple of breakaways, the energy levels, the performance were all there and then we get done by an absolute nail on of a penalty which wasn't given and then we knock off at the back post.

"If we get the penalty it's a different game but when you work as hard as that and get nothing for it it is one of the most difficult feelings in football.

"I've said to the players in the dressing room that they are really not that far away. I don't think I could say there was a bad performance among us and if we can keep doing what we have shown tonight then we will win more than we lose."
