Dorus De Vries believes the Swans were due a slice of luck after Coventry were given no penalty on Tuesday night

The Swansea City goalkeeper told the Evening Post "I was falling backwards and there were two guys behind me, so I don't know if it was a penalty," he said. "Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.

"We've had some bad calls against us — particularly last season — but this season maybe it is starting to even up a little bit," de Vries added.

"I remember at Nottingham Forest earlier in the season we conceded a penalty and it shouldn't have been awarded.

"So if we're lucky this time against Coventry, then that's fine.

"We could do with some more luck — we hit the woodwork three times in one attack on Tuesday, which was unbelievable.

"And with the table the way it is, we deserve a little luck at times.

"Queens Park Rangers seem to have got quite a few results in the last few minutes, and doing that gives you that little edge.

"Back home, Ajax were on a great streak of winning championships when I was growing up and people called them 'lucky Ajax'.

"They always seemed to have something extra, that little bit of luck, and scored late goals.

"I loved the way they played — they were a great example of how to play football.

"It's not just about being lucky, if you work hard and play good football, then usually you'll get what you deserve."
